Walmart is settling a class-action lawsuit for overcharging consumers for certain weighted grocery items. The suit alleges that many goods were rung up for an incorrect price at the register — higher than the sticker price or store signage.

Hino Motors is settling a lawsuit for $237.5 million over allegations their trucks — certain models from 2011 to 2021 — emitted more pollution than advertised.

Banking giant Capital One has agreed to a $16 million settlement to resolve allegations it charged unlawful fees for checks and ACH debit transactions.

The settlement benefits current and previous account holders who were charged a representment fee between Sept. 1, 2015, and Jan. 12, 2022.

Anyone charged the fee will automatically receive a payment, but those who wish to be excluded must file the exclusion form by June 17, 2024.

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army has agreed to a multi-million dollar settlement to resolve claims that it failed to comply with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) when conducting background checks for job applicants.

Impacted consumers can receive a $95 store coupon or voucher for use at Salvation Army stores in California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada or Arizona.

Anyone impacted will automatically receive the voucher without filing a claim. To be excluded from the suit, you must file the paperwork by June 15, 2024.
