With SUVs currently being some of the most popular cars on the road, drivers looking to keep more cash in their wallet should try to find one that is durable and reliable for the long haul.
According to a recent study from iSeeCars, these SUVs have long-lasting value due to their high likelihood of lasting 250,000 miles or more. After analyzing odometer data from more than 395 million cars, these 11 SUVs were estimated to have the highest probability of reaching 250,000 miles. The average SUV has just a 4.8% chance of getting there, so every model on this list beats the segment by a wide margin.

Toyota Sequoia
42.3% Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles
The Toyota Sequoia is a testament to its durability. It is 8.9 times more likely to last 250,000 miles than the average SUV, which only has a 4.8% chance of reaching this mileage milestone.
Edmunds has praised the Toyota Sequoia for having superior build quality compared to most of the SUVs in its class, highlighting its durability. The Toyota Sequoia also comes with warranty coverage of three years/36,000 miles overall, and a five-year/60,000-mile warranty for its powertrain. Every Sequoia uses a twin-turbo V6 hybrid powertrain that makes 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque, and it can tow up to 9,520 pounds. The trade-off is fuel economy, with estimates of about 20 to 22 mpg combined depending on the drivetrain.
The Toyota 4Runner
33.1% Chance of Lasting 250,000+ miles
The Toyota 4Runner is 6.9 times more likely to last for 250,000 miles than the average SUV. Edmunds also praised the 4Runner's sturdy build quality. Like the Sequoia, the 4Runner also comes with a three-year/36,000-mile warranty.
RepairPal has given the 4Runner an above-average reliability rating of 4/5 and estimates that its annual repair costs are lower than the average of midsize SUVs. The current generation, redesigned for 2025, swaps the old V6 for a 278-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder, and a 326-horsepower hybrid is available on some trims. Its body-on-frame construction makes it a strong pick for buyers who go off-road or tow often.
Lexus RX (hybrid)
28.9% Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles
The Lexus RX hybrid model is 6.1 times more likely to last 250,000 miles or more than the average SUV. Edmunds praised the RX hybrid's exceptional build quality. This luxury SUV's warranties include four-year/50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper and six-year/70,000-mile powertrain coverage. It's also the longest-lasting hybrid of any type in the 2026 study.
The RX 350h makes 246 horsepower and is rated at 36 mpg combined, while the sportier RX 500h makes 366 horsepower but drops to 27 mpg combined. The RX 350h starts at about $53,500. It's a smart fit for commuters who drive a lot of highway miles and want luxury comfort with lower fuel costs.

Lexus GX
23.3% Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles
The Lexus GX is 4.9 times more likely to reach 250,000 miles than the typical SUV. Edmunds has lauded this midsize luxury SUV for its potent mix of luxury and capability. They noted that the GX's four-year/50,000-mile warranty is more generous than what manufacturers typically offer for this luxury SUV segment. The current GX 550 uses a 349-horsepower twin-turbo V6 and can tow up to 9,096 pounds. Like the 4Runner, it rides on a truck-style frame, so it's built for towing and rough roads, though that also means it isn't as fuel-efficient as car-based luxury SUVs. It's best for buyers who want a luxury SUV that can handle trails.
Toyota Highlander Hybrid
20.7% Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles
The Toyota Highlander Hybrid is 4.3 times more likely to rack up 250,000 miles than the average SUV.
This hybrid SUV comes with a three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, as well as a five-year 60,000-mile coverage for its powertrain. Its first two years of scheduled maintenance are also free.
RepairPal gave the Highlander hybrid an excellent reliability rating, while noting that its annual maintenance costs are cheaper than the typical midsize SUV's. With three rows and up to 36 mpg combined, it's a good fit for families that want room for seven or eight passengers without the fuel bills of a larger SUV.
Honda HR-V
17.6% Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles
The Honda HR-V is 3.7 times more likely to reach 250,000 miles than the average SUV, making it the highest-ranked small SUV in the study. It's also one of the most affordable picks on this list, with a starting price of about $27,600.
The HR-V uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 158 horsepower, so it isn't quick, but it's simple and easy to live with. It offers 24.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and 55.1 cubic feet with them folded. Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and driver attention monitoring.
Mercedes-Benz G-Class
17.3% Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is 3.6 times more likely to last 250,000 miles than the average SUV, and it's the only non-Japanese model on this list. Its boxy, body-on-frame design has been built for decades, and it's known for serious off-road ability and towing strength.
The biggest drawback is cost. The G 550, which uses a 443-horsepower turbocharged inline-six with a mild-hybrid system, started at about $148,000 for the 2025 model year, and the AMG G 63 started at about $186,000. An electric version is also available. Durability may be a plus, but this is an SUV for buyers with a large budget.
Honda Pilot
14.3% Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles
The Honda Pilot is 3 times more likely to surpass 250,000 miles in its lifetime than the average SUV. RepairPal states that the Honda Pilot is more reliable than the average midsize SUV, while also having lower annual repair costs on average. The Pilot seats up to eight passengers and uses a 3.5-liter V6 that makes 285 horsepower. It also comes in a TrailSport trim that adds off-road hardware for buyers who want more capability. With three usable rows and a reputation for reliability, it's a practical choice for growing families who plan to keep their SUV for many years and put a lot of miles on it.
Acura MDX
13.1% Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles
The Acura MDX is 2.8 times more likely to last past 250,000 miles than the average SUV. RepairPal rates the Acura MDX's reliability as better than the average midsize luxury SUV. In particular, the MDX's annual repair costs are more than $150 less than the segment average. The MDX comes with a 290-horsepower V6, and the performance-focused Type S model uses a 355-horsepower turbocharged V6.
Acura backs it with a four-year/50,000-mile limited warranty and a six-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty. Its three rows make it a solid pick for families who want luxury features with lower long-term repair costs and a comfortable highway ride.

Lexus RX
12.8% Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles
The Lexus RX is 2.7 times more likely to rack up 250,000 miles than the average SUV. Edmunds praised the Lexus RX as having good overall value thanks to its reasonable pricing for a luxury SUV. The Lexus RX comes with a four-year/50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a six-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty. The non-hybrid RX 350 uses a 275-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder.
If fuel economy matters, the hybrid version ranks even higher in this study, so it may be worth the extra cost for drivers who plan to rack up big miles. Either way, the RX's quiet cabin and smooth ride make it a comfortable daily driver for long commutes.
Honda CR-V
12.7% Chance of Lasting 250,000+ Miles
The Honda CR-V is 2.7 times more likely to last for 250,000 miles than the average SUV. Edmunds has praised the Honda CR-V for having strong build quality, which offers consumers good value for their money. According to RepairPal, the Honda CR-V has excellent reliability for a compact SUV, with yearly repair costs that are more than $100 cheaper than the segment average.
Buyers can choose a 190-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder or a 204-horsepower hybrid, which is the better pick for drivers who want to save on gas over the long haul. The CR-V's roomy back seat and practical cargo area also make it an easy everyday pick for small families.
Bottom line
According to iSeeCars, Toyota and Lexus vehicles are the ones with the greatest chances of lasting for 250,000 miles, with 19.7% and 14.4% chances, respectively. The average vehicle only has a 5.4% chance of lasting that long.
Just like drivers can compare insurance policies to help them save on car insurance, consumers should compare reliability scores and lifetime mileage estimates to help them choose a vehicle with promising long-term value.
Keep in mind that these are estimates, not guarantees. How long any SUV lasts still depends on regular maintenance, driving habits, and climate. Following the manufacturer's service schedule and fixing small problems early can help any vehicle reach high mileage.
