Aldi is putting the pedal to the proverbial grocery cart pedal in 2026, with sweeping plans to debut 180 new locations in 31 states.

That ambitious push would bring Aldi's U.S. footprint close to 2,800 locations as it works toward an even bigger goal: 3,200 stores by 2028. Buttressed by a multibillion dollar investment, Aldi is betting big that its current strategy will set it up for enduring success.

Where has Aldi opened new stores recently?

In the Northeast, Aldi opened its doors at 126 Boston St. in Lynn, Massachusetts on August 6, followed by an Oakdale, Pennsylvania, location at 11 East Steuben St. on August 13.

Florida received a triple helping on August 20, with new stores in DeFuniak Springs, Eustis, and Tarpon Springs. An Aldi also opened in Portland, Maine in March 2026, the first in the state.

Aldi is finally coming to the Centennial State

Colorado, your Aldi era is almost here! The grocer plans to make its debut in the state within five years, with 50+ stores on the docket.

The target locations are Denver and Colorado Springs, which Aldi has on its priority schedule. Keep your eye on the Central Park and Northeast areas of Denver, where Aldi has already filed plans for its first two stores.

Arizona is growing and Aldi is betting on it

Aldi has its sights on opening 10 more outlets in the ever-growing Phoenix market throughout 2026, and that's just the beginning. The brand aims to launch 40 supermarkets in the region before the close of 2030.

Three have already turned on the lights, with upcoming locations under construction in Buckeye, Cave Creek, Peoria, Phoenix, Maricopa, and Mesa.

Aldi forecasts good odds in Las Vegas

Aldi believes that the odds are in its favor in Sin City after four stores made their debut in 2025. The early response was strong enough that the grocer will be increasing its current supermarket count by two by 2030.

Aldi number five in the region will be at 2650 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway in Henderson.

Where else is Aldi opening stores?

Aldi is deep in development with its blueprints in the Midwest as well. A new Indiana Aldi will open at 4551 Charlestown Road in New Albany, adding to the 80+ stores already in the state.

Ohio is slated to get two new locations: at 121 Grandin Road in Hamilton Township and 51 4th Avenue, in Springfield. Ohio has over 170 Aldi stores already, too, indicating robust demand.

Aldi's expansion in the Southeast U.S.

Down in Miami, a new Aldi is turning on the lights at 8710 Southwest 72nd St., formerly a Winn-Dixie. This is one of the almost 80 former Winn-Dixie (previously known as Southeastern Grocers) outlets Aldi plans to revamp.

Aldi has been flipping these stores since an acquisition in 2024. Nearly 90 outlets have already made the switch, with ambitions to open more than 200 stores total by close of 2027.

How will Aldi support the growth?

Aldi is expanding the behind-the-scenes muscle needed to keep its shelves stocked by building three distribution centers over the next three years.

Baldwin, Florida, is projected for 2027, followed by Goodyear, Arizona, in 2028 and Aurora, Colorado, in 2029. Aldi will also increase size and capacity at its Haines City, Florida distribution center for perishable foods that require refrigeration.
