McDonald's
While McDonald's new sandwich, the Big Arch, made headlines in 2026 when the CEO of the company seemed less than enthused about it, the new item is popular enough to warrant being added to the permanent menu in some locations this year.
The fast-food juggernaut is also in the process of overhauling drive-thru lanes. The goal? Alleviate rush-hour congestion with improved traffic flow and AI ordering.
Starbucks

2026 is bringing the return of chicken al pastor, notably in the form of a high-protein cup. They're also opening new locations and giving their existing technology an upgrade to boost the reward program and speed up food service times.

Taco Bell also launched its "Luxe Value Menu" in 2026, with 10 items under $3, including a mini taco salad and a loaded potato griller.
Wendy's

Jack in the Box
Happy 75th birthday, Jack in the Box! With such a milestone moment comes the return of frings, smashed Jack Sliders, the Hot Mess Burger, and the Chicken Supreme. They'll be joined by newcomers such as macha drinks and protein-focused wraps.
A reimaging and remodeling campaign for many of the chain's restaurants is also in the works, promising to gussy up the dining experience.
Subway
Like many fast-food chains, Subway is also hopping onto the protein-forward food trend that diners are increasingly on board with. Subway's offering comes in the form of protein pockets: tortillas filled with your protein of choice, Sunway's classic vegetables, and your favorite sauce.
The icing on the protein cake? The cost will be only $3.99 per pocket "at participating restaurants" in the U.S.
Dutch Bros
If you're a fan of Dutch Bros, you're in luck, as the chain plans to open over 180 new locations in 2026. That follows a continued pattern of growth for the Oregon-based company.
More and more locations are serving hot breakfast to customers as they roll their pilot program into a permanent breakfast food experience. You can also expect to see more Dutch Bros products available on Amazon in 2026.

White Castle
In late 2025, White Castle opened a prototype of its new design, dubbing it the "Castle of Tomorrow." Fans of the chain can expect to see changes begin in 2026.
Upgrades include a double drive-thru with added hospitality, fresh paint in bolder colors, elevated ceilings, and a more open-concept layout. In addition, there will be spaces added for mobile order pickup so you can truly grab and go.
