IKEA Is Opening 10 New U.S. Stores in 2026 (Is Your City Getting One?)

The world's largest furniture chain is getting just a little bit bigger in 2026. IKEA has over 500 brick-and-mortar stores worldwide; however, only 77 of those are located in North America. But this year, IKEA will be adding 10 new locations to its roster.

Interim CEO Rob Olson believes these new locations will build momentum towards making IKEA more affordable, accessible, and sustainable. And despite a challenging external environment, IKEA performed well in 2025 by helping consumers looking to save money on essentials like furniture.

Alabama

Huntsville: 6125 University Place Drive

The newest IKEA just opened at the end of February in Huntsville, in the University Place Shopping Center. The grand opening included the furniture chain donating $10,000 to Crisis Services of North Alabama as a way to demonstrate their commitment to the community. The first 100 kids coming to the new store received soft toys, and there were giveaways for early visitors.

Arizona

Phoenix: 4643 E. Cactus Road

The former Hobby Lobby location is going to be an IKEA soon. The Village Square shopping center isn't able to accommodate the typical large-scale IKEA warehouse and will instead be one of the new smaller footprint stores, where larger furniture items like sofas and beds will be available for online ordering and free pickup in stores.

California

Culver City: 3225 Helms Ave.

IKEA is taking over the former location of luxury furniture retailer HD Buttercup, which they hope will bring the IKEA brand closer to urban customers. The store will be smaller than the warehouse-style locations, but it will still feature about 3,000 items, 600 furniture pieces, and a wide selection of home accessories.

Colorado

Fort Collins: 4250 Corbett Drive

IKEA's announcement of a new location in Fort Collins came as a surprise to the city, which learned from the furniture giant's press release like everybody else. The 64,000-square-foot facility will occupy the former location of Urban Air Adventure Park. The new IKEA will likely open in the fall.

Illinois

Gurnee: 6170 W. Grand Ave.

The Swedish furniture store will be trying out a new format at Gurnee Mills Mall. The smaller format is intended to make the IKEA experience more accessible and convenient to urban centers, and it will be 40 miles away from the nearest location across the border into Wisconsin.

Oklahoma

Tulsa: 7309 S. Olympia Ave.

Tulsa residents have to travel to Texas or Kansas City to access the great furniture deals IKEA offers, but that will change this year. The furniture store will be occupying the former Belk clothing store space at the Tulsa Hills Shopping Center.

Texas

Rockwall: 1801 E. Interstate 30
Dallas: 8080 Park Lane
Webster: 19801 Gulf Freeway

The grand opening for the new IKEA in the Dallas market was scheduled for March 11, starting the day with giveaways that included coffee, cinnamon buns, and other goodies. The store is part of the smaller footprint stores intended to make shopping more accessible for bigger cities that can't accommodate the large warehouse-style stores for which IKEA is known. The Webster location is likely to open in late summer.

Virginia

Chantilly: 4320 Chantilly Shopping Center

The former Dulles Expo Center closed at the end of last year, and the site will now be a new IKEA location. Previously, residents of Chantilly had to go all the way to Woodbridge for an IKEA fix. There's no official opening date yet, but it's expected to open this spring.

In addition to the 10 locations announced above, IKEA also has plans to open "Plan & order points." These locations have a smaller format where customers can work with staff to design spaces and place orders for home delivery rather than shop a full warehouse store:
