What is McDonald's limited-time Caesar Sauce?

Caesar isn't just for salads.

Even though Caesar is something you may typically think of as a dressing, the fast food chain is bringing the garlic, parmesan pick to a whole new level with its most recent drop.

Unlike Ranch or other creamy dips and dressings, this savory sauce has a citrusy kick. And, if you're a vegetarian, don't worry about anchovies. Even though traditional Caesar dressing is made with anchovy paste or anchovy fillets, McDonald's sauce is fish-free. But if you are a vegan, avoid this dip. It contains eggs, cheese, and milk.

What McDonald's menu items feature the new dip?

There are three ways to enjoy this new sauce. Purists can snag an à la carte cup of the Caesar dip. But if you're looking for a pre-sauced sandwich, McDonald's has two chicken-filled options for you to try.

Are you in the mood for a lighter bite? While we wouldn't call the new Caesar Snack Wrap a diet menu item, it's not exactly Big Mac-level filling. The wrap features a panko-breaded McCrispy Strip, shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, and, of course, Caesar Sauce, all nestled in a soft tortilla.

If you crave something more substantial, the Bacon Caesar McCrispy Sandwich is it. This new sammie starts with McDonald's signature McCrispy chicken filet and gets even better from there. Applewood smoked bacon, a toasted potato roll, shredded lettuce, Roma tomatoes, crispy onions, crinkle-cut pickles, and Caesar Sauce make this new limited-time pick a winner.

While it's not already drenched in Caesar, McDonald's is also highlighting the revamped, crunchier Panko-crusted chicken McCrispy Strips as Caesar Sauce-ready.

Is McDonald's Caesar Sauce a brand-new item?

This isn't the first time McDonald's has experimented with Caesar dressing. Way back in 2000, the fast food chain introduced a Grilled Chicken Caesar McSalad Shaker. The portable pick was eventually replaced with full-sized salad bowls, but in 2020, McDonald's discontinued the Caesar Chicken option, leaving fans wanting more.

Sadly, even though McDonald's is reviving the king of dressings, the salad isn't making a comeback. That said, you can still smother a bed of greens with an à la carte cup.

What do fans think about McDonald's Caesar menu?

The new menu items dropped July 21. And that means fans have had some time to try out the Caesar Sauce.

According to a recent Reddit post, the reviews are mixed. One Reddit user praised the pick in their review, writing, "The Caesar sauce was good. Definitely better paired with a salad, I'd imagine. McDonald's knows how to do sauces," while another raved, "It was surprisingly good. Better than most places."

Other positive reviews included, "Solid 9/10", "It was pretty good tbh. I don't know if Caesar sauce is normally tangy or not, let alone what it tastes like in general, but I enjoyed that from it," and "I had it yesterday on my nuggets, absolutely delicious, would buy some to put on a salad, it's that good in my opinion."

Cue the critics. Some McDonald's subreddit users just aren't here for the new sauce, bashing the creamy Caesar online: "Literally came to the Internet, searched Reddit to find this thread just to be able to comment that I tried the Caesar snack wrap today and it was absolutely disgusting" and "Not worth the price."

How can you save money on McDonald's new menu items?

Even though some McDonald's customers aren't sold on the value, the new menu items won't break the bank. The Caesar Snack Wrap costs $2.99. Prices of both the Bacon Caesar McCrispy Sandwich and single-serving containers of dip vary by location. Reddit users report paying about $0.29 for a cup of the sauce.

Creative ways to use McDonald's limited-time Caesar Sauce

The à la carte item's low price makes it perfect for getting creative. Instead of a sandwich already slathered in sauce or a ready-to-eat wrap, simply snag a few of the cups and mix up your own meal. And bonus, you don't necessarily have to pair it with a McDonald's menu item.

We suggest brushing the garlic, parm, and lemon blend onto grilled fish, a gourmet burger, or fresh greens. You can also dip everything from French fries to mozzarella sticks into the creamy Caesar Sauce.

Bottom line

Don't wait to nab McDonald's new completely cravable creamy Caesar creations. The Caesar Snack Wrap, Bacon Caesar McCrispy Sandwich, and Caesar Dip Cup are limited-edition menu items that could disappear before Pumpkin Spice Latte-time arrives.

Even though the fast food chain's everyday low prices already make it easy to keep more cash in your wallet, we've got you covered with another money-saving tip: Download the McDonald's app to score daily deals and earn points that you can trade in for freebies.
