Today's struggling economy has many chain stores shutting doors and shrinking their store footprints, but Trader Joe's is doing quite the opposite. Good old TJ's is continuing to expand, and in 2026, is adding several new stores across many different states.
While the grocery chain has a reputation as a "bougie grocer," their affordable prices and wide selection of quick and easy meals, combined with popular Trader Joe's shopping hacks, make them a great option for single working folks who like delicious food.

Arizona
- Tucson: 2150 E. Broadway Blvd.
A fourth Trader Joe's is headed to Tucson sometime later this year. It's been in the works for several years, with construction plans first submitted in 2023. The grocer will be moving into a former Dollar Tree located at the corner of Broadway Blvd. and Campbell Ave.
Florida
- West Palm Beach: 8111 S Dixie Highway
This location will be part of a mixed-use development that is still under construction. It's anticipated to open later this year, but an official opening for the Trader Joe's hasn't been announced yet. There are currently 27 other locations in Florida, and four in Palm Beach.
Georgia
- Johns Creek: 1000 Medley Blvd.
The Atlanta metro area will be getting another Trader Joe's in the near future. The grocery store will be part of a new mixed-use development known as The Medley, and will also offer retail stores, restaurants, entertainment space, a hotel, and over 800 residential units.
Kansas
- Merriam: 8700 Shawnee Mission Parkway
While an exact opening date for this location is not yet known, it's anticipated to be in the fall of 2026. There are only two other Trader Joe's locations in the metro area, one in Leawood and one in Kansas City.
Louisiana
- Mandeville: 3377 U.S. Highway 190
- New Orleans: 2428 Napoleon Ave.
The former HomeGoods store in Mandeville will soon be a Trader Joe's. The grocery chain has plans to lease the 25,000-square-foot space in Pontchartrain Square shopping center. With these additions, Louisiana will be home to five TJ's.
Texas
- McKinney: 8101 Eldorado Pkwy.
A second TJ's is coming to McKinney, but the original will also be getting an upgrade later this year. The location on 2851 Craig Drive will be getting new refrigeration and freezer cases, along with other store upgrades, according to recent filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. These renovations should occur between May 1 and Nov. 1.
Washington
- Woodinville: 14035 NE Woodinville Duvall Rd.
An official opening date hasn't been released yet, however, in May of 2025, Mayor Mike Millman expressed that the anticipated opening would likely be late in 2025 or early in 2026. That means it will hopefully be ready for shoppers soon.
Bottom line
Trader Joe's currently operates in 42 states, with hundreds of locations open to customers. It's popular with shoppers because of reasonable prices on healthy yet delicious foods, along with a wide variety of cuisines that are quick and easy to prepare at home.
As they state on their website, TJ's buys "direct from suppliers whenever possible" and they "bargain hard to get the best price and then pass the savings on to you."
