These 8 Cities Are About to Get a Costco!

Costco has warehouses in almost every state in the country (plus a few overseas) — and with the popularity of the Costco membership and wholesale business model, they are planning to add several more throughout the year.

So far this year, Costco has already opened quite a few new stores — and the wholesale giant has confirmed that they aim to open at least eight more in the spring and early summer.

Below, we've rounded up the eight locations Costco plans to open from May through July 2024.

California has more Costco warehouses than any other state in the country. In fact, it is the only state that has more than 100, and it's getting another one in the Sacramento area this spring.

Costco plans to open its new Loomis location in May.

June will be a big month for Costco, as the company has plans to open several new warehouses across the U.S. — including in Florida, which already has 32 Costco locations.

The new location will be in North Port, a city in Sarasota County. Currently, there's only one Costco in Sarasota, located at the Sarasota Mall.

Mt. Juliet, a suburb of Nashville, will get its own Costco in the first half of 2024 as well. The retail giant already has one warehouse in the Nashville area on Charlotte Pike.

Costco plans to open the new Tennessee location in June.

Costco shared plans to expand its footprint in China this year as well. The retail giant has dozens of locations across Asia, including in China, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.

Currently, there are six Costco warehouses in China — with plans to open another in Jiangning this June.

Loomis isn't the only California area getting a new Costco. The retailer plans to expand its reach in the state even farther with a new location in Riverbank.

Costco already has two locations in Stanislaus County — one in Modesto and the other in Turlock — and the plan is to open the third Riverbank location in June.

Texas is another state that is packed with Costco locations. Currently there are 39 stores — and by June there will be one more if everything goes according to plan.

The new store will open in Richmond, a suburb of Houston. The retailer already has a few locations throughout Houston — on Bunker Hill Road, Richmond Ave., and N Gessner Road.

Nebraska only has a few Costco locations — one in La Vista, one in Lincoln, and one in Omaha — so plans to open a fourth location this summer are certainly welcome.

Nebraska's newest Costco will open in northwest Omaha in July. Costco was given the OK by the city council to begin construction on the location in the spring of 2023.

Finally, Costco plans to expand its footprint in Minnesota this July with a store in Chaska.

The new location is a big deal. Even though Minnesota has more than a dozen Costco stores, most are located around the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area rather than the outer ring Twin Cities suburbs (which is what Chaska is considered).

While these are the only stores Costco officially confirmed that would be opening in the coming months (as of April 2024), the company's CFO previously stated that the retail giant hopes to open 30 new stores each year — both in the U.S. and internationally.

If you're anxiously awaiting a new Costco to open its doors closer to home, it is pretty safe to bet that the U.S. will be getting a few more locations before the year's end.

Even if you currently have to make a trek to reach your nearest Costco, investing in a membership and buying necessities in bulk is a smart money move for many families.
