What is Dirt Cheap?
Dirt Cheap is an extreme-value retailer that resells excess inventory from other stores for a discounted price.
The company was founded 30 years ago in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and also operated a wholesale business that sold inventory internationally as well. They had more than 60 different store locations open before they filed for bankruptcy earlier this year.

What caused Dirt Cheap’s bankruptcy?
Dirt Cheap’s parent company, Channel Control Merchants, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October and began shutting down locations as part of the filing.
The company’s chief restructuring officer blamed part of Dirt Cheap’s issues on its relationship with Target, which he claims had been sending their best returns to Channel Control Merchant’s biggest competitor.
Bottom line
Other secondary inventory retail stores can be good alternatives and help you avoid wasting money at name-brand shops so check out other discount stores in your area.
You can also try other regional stores like Ollie’s, Bargain Hunt, and more to find name brand products for less.
