Mod Pizza has lost some of its popularity, which could mean your local store is going to shut down — if it hasn’t already.
Several locations were already closed as the company faced daunting financial issues and considered bankruptcy before being bailed out by another restaurant company.

Mod Pizza shut down five locations in California, including its store in Clovis, leaving 15 employees without a job.
The company gave little warning about shutting down the location, with employees finding out only two days before it shut down.
Newbury Park, California
Another store that was shuttered in California was in the city of Newbury Park in Southern California.
The restaurant had been in that location for nine years and was planning to celebrate its 10th anniversary in October.
Atlanta, Georgia
The Atlanta metro area saw three locations shut down so far over the past few months.
Mod Pizza recently closed a location in East Cobb after shutdowns in Buford and Chamblee in March.
“This location is permanently closed,” said a sign on the door of the Chamblee location. “We are incredibly grateful for your patronage and support over the years.”

New Lenox, Illinois
Illinois residents recently said goodbye to the Mod Pizza on 651 E. Lincoln Highway in New Lenox.
The New Lenox location opened in 2019 and closed in August as part of the company’s struggles.
New Jersey
New Jersey saw two locations close on the same day in Cherry Hill and Marlton.
Both locations were shut down in March as part of an early round of store closures due to the company’s financial distress.

Lebanon, Pennsylvania
The Mod Pizza location at 1501 Quentin Road officially closed its doors for good in June.
Customers have been going to the location since it opened in 2020 and fortunately still have other options in nearby towns for Mod Pizza.
Flower Mound, Texas
The Flower Mound location in Texas was open for around 18 months before employees found out that the location was going to be shuttered permanently.
A manager for the location blamed the shutdown on “not enough business.”
Seattle, Washington
Mod Pizza, which is headquartered in nearby Bellevue, closed down a Seattle location at 4755 Fauntleroy Way SW in West Seattle.
The store originally opened its doors to customers in 2018.
Fitchburg, Wisconsin
Employees at the Mod Pizza in Fitchburg found out they were let go in March as part of a wave of shutdowns.
There were 15 workers affected by the closure at 2960 Cahill Main, with the closure handled by the company’s corporate office.

Mod Pizza made big cuts throughout the year
The company said it closed 27 locations in the first quarter of 2024 including several in California as well as Wisconsin, New Jersey, and other states that shut down in March.
More locations were shuttered in the second quarter, bringing the total to 44 stores locking their doors for good this year, although a full list is not yet available to the public.
Mod Pizza acquired by Elite Restaurants
Instead of having to file for bankruptcy, the company was acquired by Elite Restaurant Group in July, so whether more locations will close their doors has yet to be seen.
