Costco Is Opening 7 New Locations in 2026 (Are You Getting One?)

What Costco is planning

Costco's growth plan is aligned with their stated goals of building bigger warehouses with higher parking capacity and increasing the size of their gas stations to meet member demand.

It's not all about expansion, either, as the wholesale retailer is planning more member-friendly benefits. They're extending store hours, increasing Instacart integration, and adding additional fuel savings.

Costco has some setbacks

The expansion comes amid public criticism. That $4.99 rotisserie chicken has often been hailed as an amazing deal for shoppers, but it's facing two class-action lawsuits. One filed in January alleges that the chicken is not preservative-free as labeled. Another suit filed in February accuses Costco of failing to control Salmonella contamination in the poultry processing plants.

Where Costco is building new locations

The Albany-area Costco will serve New York's Capital Region and is one of the retailer's most anticipated openings in the Northeast. The warehouse spans approximately 163,000 square feet and includes an 18-pump members-only gas station, more than 770 parking spaces and Costco's signature departments, including a bakery, pharmacy, optical center, tire center and food court.

Oconomowoc, Wisconsin

Costco's Oconomowoc location expands the retailer's footprint in southeastern Wisconsin, providing a closer shopping option for residents west of Milwaukee. Shoppers can expect the traditional Costco warehouse experience, including bulk groceries, fresh foods, home goods, electronics, pharmacy services, a tire center and a members-only gas station.

Otsego, Minnesota

The new Otsego warehouse will serve Minnesota's fast-growing northwest suburbs and is strategically located near Interstate 94. The approximately 164,000-square-foot store is expected to feature more than 390 parking spaces, a fuel station and Costco's full lineup of warehouse offerings, while benefiting from major road improvements completed around the site.

Mansfield, Texas

9200 Lone Star Road

Mansfield's new Costco represents another major investment in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The warehouse will measure more than 157,000 square feet and is being built as a roughly $19.5 million project, offering shoppers a fuel station along with Costco's popular grocery, apparel, electronics, and household merchandise departments.

Celina, Texas

3445 S. Preston Road

Costco's Celina warehouse will help meet demand in one of North Texas' fastest-growing communities. The approximately 158,000-square-foot building represents an estimated $18.5 million investment and will feature the retailer's standard warehouse layout, including fresh foods, pharmacy, optical services, a tire center and a members-only gas station.

Stone Mountain, Georgia

5500 Hugh Howell Road

The Stone Mountain location brings Costco to another rapidly growing part of metro Atlanta, giving shoppers easier access to the wholesale retailer without traveling farther into the region. Customers can expect Costco's familiar selection of bulk groceries, prepared foods, seasonal merchandise, pharmacy services, a food court, tire center and discounted fuel.

Lee's Summit, Missouri

951 NE Sam Walton Lane

The Lee's Summit warehouse will become Costco's sixth location in the Kansas City metropolitan area and will anchor a larger mixed-use development near the U.S. 50 and Missouri 291 interchange. Plans include the retailer's signature warehouse, a gas station, tire center, food court, hearing and optical centers, and a large parking area to accommodate growing demand in eastern Jackson County.

Bottom line

Costco has gotten up to a lot in 2026, considering we're still in the first financial quarter. In addition to expansion plans and class-action lawsuits over their chicken, they are attempting to recoup import taxes after the Supreme Court struck down many tariffs imposed by the federal administration.
