13 Discontinued Aldi Products Shoppers Miss The Most (Which One Would You Bring Back?)

But lately, loyal Aldi customers have complained about missing some of the most popular products. From not-to-be-forgotten "Finds" to seasonal selections, sadly, some of the most delicious deals don't last long.

Which discontinued items do buyers long to see back on store shelves? We scoured social media for the beloved buys that Aldi lovers lament and rounded up the ones we hope will make a comeback.

German roast coffee

Aldi shoppers mourn the loss of this caffeinated fan-favorite. One loyal customer started an entire thread on the Aldi subreddit, based on this product, writing, "For me, it was the German Roast coffee in the black and red 500g brick."

Luckily, Aldi still stocks two Barissimo versions (17.6-ounce German Medium Roast and German Roast Dark) for $9.59 each.

Vegan chicken patties

The faux chickenless chicken patty is a long-gone item that shoppers hope comes back to this store. Redditor babyshark_rideordie posted, "They used to have some frozen vegan chick'n patties and tendies that were really good. I haven't seen them in a few years."

Planning to substitute Earth Grown Veggie Burgers for the mock chicken? Customers report that this item is also out of stock.

Coconut coffee creamer

Customers are downright mad about this discontinued item. Redditor BigBonedMiss complained, "They no longer make coconut coffee creamer. This upsets me so much that sometimes I think making signs and protesting outside of Aldi's corporate headquarters in Batavia as I live 30 miles east of there."

You are still able to snag Barissimo's French Vanilla, Cinnamon Roll, Oatmeal Cookie Oatmilk, Pure Sweet, Vanilla Almondmilk, and other flavored creamers in Aldi's refrigerated dairy section.

German Dijon mustard

Aldi is a German company. And that means the retailer goes all-out for Oktoberfest.

Mustard is one of the top specialty sellers during that time of the year, as this Reddit user points out, "They used to have this specific German dijon mustard in a jar. I don't know what made it so good, but it was SO GOOD." Aldi's Burman Dijon mustard is an alternative, but it isn't quite the same. 

Gluten-free bagels

No gluten? No problem. At least, back when Aldi used to carry this product. One customer has a workaround for the discontinued item: "Now I have to drive 45 minutes to get them from Trader Joe's. I buy about 12 packs at a time and freeze them."

Frozen garlic bread

You can still find garlic bread in most Aldi stores. But shoppers aren't happy with the current version. Reddit user eejum wrote, "They had amazing frozen garlic bread back in the 90s. It was discontinued for a greasy shelf-stable version."

Whole pickled beets

Fans of this pickled product aren't happy with the alternatives. One Aldi subreddit user explained, "I've gotten Nellie and Meijer brand ones, but the Aldi ones had a nice snap to them. I could easily eat a jar in a sitting. The sliced ones don't even compare."

Frozen potato pancakes

Don't confuse this item with Season's Choice Hash Brown Patties. While they're both made from potatoes, the frozen pancakes are a seasonal selection that comes and goes.

How much do shoppers miss this find? Take it from this disgruntled Aldi customer, "I still look for them in the freezer case, wistfully, every time I shop there."

Frozen smash burgers

When Aldi Redditor MustangSallie posted, "They had frozen smash burgers earlier this year that my entire family actually ate," another user suggested checking out similar products at Meijer and GFS.

Keep a lookout for the mouthwatering meal. The seasonal item pops up in Aldi's freezer section every few months.

Light & Active Fudge Swirl Ice Cream Bars

Delicious desserts don't always stick around. And this healthy-ish option is a prime example. Redditor LiterColaFarva lamented the loss, "I can't even find a pic of them on Google, but they discontinued them two to three years ago."

If you're looking for a sweet substitute, we spotted Sundae Shoppe's 20-Calorie Vanilla and Fruit Flavor Bars ($3.09) in the store's freezer section.

Penguins crackers

Aldi's generic penguin-shaped Goldfish cracker dupe is a thing of the past.

While shoppers bemoan the loss, the retailer does have another affordable alternative to the brand-name buy. Snag a 19-ounce box of Savoritz Turtle Cheddar Crackers for $4.39. Same idea, different shape. User xSampleTextx said, "I always loved the Penguins (Goldfish clone), but now the Turtles? Not so much." 

Cookie brownies

Score this seasonal sweet when you can. As Redditor marthaplans notes, these chocolatey goodies taste like they're homemade: "I used to get people asking for my recipe when I brought them places. At one time I had a cabinet full." Aldi sells a Betty Crocker cookie brownie mix, but many say it doesn't quite compare. 

All Aldi finds

Some shoppers just can't get past the idea of a limited-time buy. Redditor 1-2-3-for-me voiced their grievances with the rotating stock of specialty selections: "Aldi finds are honestly a turn off, I don't mind seasonal…but the idea of you may see it once then it's gone for a year, I don't even want to try."

Bottom line

Nobody likes to say goodbye. Unfortunately, Aldi's constantly rotating stock of "aisle of shame" Finds, seasonal sweets, pantry picks, and mouthwatering meals makes it almost impossible to know when fan favorites are going to suddenly disappear.

If we had to choose one discontinued product to bring back, the indulgently sweet cookie brownies are at the top of our list. Even though shoppers can't snag this deal IRL right now, we still dream.

That said, you could still save money on groceries at Aldi. The retailer has a bounty of bargains on everyday essentials, frozen foods, prepared meals, sweet treats, and so much more.
