In 1979, Garden Ridge Pottery was founded, offering a unique and inspiring retail experience. Today, most consumers know this brand as At Home, the home décor superstore with more than 250 locations across 40 states.

While this chain of décor stores has catered to diverse styles and has helped consumers save money shopping over the years, it needs to adapt to continue operating. After filing for bankruptcy in June 2025, the company reported a new plan with its lenders as it navigates tariff increases and debt.

While most At Home stores will stay open and receive fresh funding, at least 26 underperforming stores will likely close in 2025. Is yours on the list?

July is in full swing, bringing the height of summer. That also means peak season for hot deals and unbeatable savings. Now’s the time to save big on:

  • Grills, coolers, and outdoor living upgrades
  • Travel must-haves for road trips and beach days
  • Swimwear and summer fashion
  • For grocery savings, grab seasonal produce like watermelon, peaches, and tomatoes

While you're enjoying the sunshine, retailers are quietly making room for back-to-school inventory. That makes July a prime opportunity to scoop up summer favorites while the deals are still blazing.

Will there be more At Home closures?

romaset/Adobe workers unloading boxes from minibus

The current list of stores was sourced from court documents, which indicate that at least 26 At Home stores are likely to close by September 30, 2025. However, based on the complexity of this case and the many economic variables, there may be more.

At Home must work with its lenders to navigate its current financial and operational recovery plan. More news is likely to emerge in the coming months as closures begin and company goals evolve.

Bottom line

michael/Adobe At Home Group, Inc retail store

To shed debt under Chapter 11, most At Home stores will remain open. An agreement with its lenders will help this retail chain eliminate $2 billion in debt while receiving $200 million in funding for the brand's restructuring process.

This story is a familiar one for several brands, including Big Lots (which made a comeback in 2025) and Barnes & Noble, among other physical iconic chains. So, if you love At Home and like to keep more cash in your wallet as you shop, don't worry because the fight to stay alive isn't over. This brand has recovered in the past, and it can quite possibly do it again.
