Customers have more choices than ever when it comes to banking. According to the FinanceBuzz Banking Behavior Study, more than one-third of Americans access their bank online every day, while 92% check their bank online at least once a month.

And as more people opt for online banking, brick-and-mortar branches are seeing less traffic. As a result, many financial institutions are shutting down some of their physical locations.

Seeing your favorite bank branch close can be challenging if you want to open a new bank account or access in-person customer service. But such closures are a reality as foot traffic falls.

In 2026, Bank of America has closed several branches and plans to close even more. Here is a list of Bank of America closures by state.

Arizona

Recently closed

  • 5350 E Comanche Street, Tucson

Slated to close

  • 3410 West Chandler Boulevard, Chandler

In Arizona, military members stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson will have to go off-base to visit a Bank of America branch. Luckily, there are 16 other branches in Tucson where you can access in-person banking services.

California

Slated to close

  • 10046 Bruceville Road, Elk Grove
  • 8959 Elk Grove Boulevard, Elk Grove
  • 4510 Franklin Avenue, Los Angeles
  • 250-A Redwood Shores Parkway, Redwood City
  • 5615 Snell Avenue, San Jose

The Bank of America branch on Asylum Avenue in Hartford recently shut its doors for the last time. But there are five other Bank of America locations in Hartford.

Bank of America customers in the nation's capital will have more than 20 branches to choose from once the Vermont Avenue location closes later in 2026.

Florida

Recently closed

One of Bank of America's Bonita Springs branches recently closed. But you can still access in-person customer service at the city's three remaining branches or in nearby Cape Coral or Fort Myers.

Georgia

Recently closed

  • 402 Washington Street, Gainesville

Slated to close

  • 2597 George Busbee Parkway NW, Kennesaw
  • 2781 Cobb Parkway, Kennesaw

Of the three Bank of America branches in Kennesaw, two will close in 2026. And Gainesville recently went from two locations to one. This may make it harder to access in-person banking services in these Peach State cities.

Maine

Slated to close

  • 849 Main Street, Westbrook

The only Bank of America branch in Westbrook, Maine, will close in the coming months. You'll be able to access services in nearby Portland.

Maryland

Recently closed

  • 1145 S. Salisbury Boulevard, Salisbury

Slated to close

  • 142313 Jarrettsville Pike, Phoenix
  • 11800 Rockville Pike, Rockville

Massachusetts

Slated to close

  • 41 Beacon Street, Framingham
  • 1245 Worcester Road Suite 1000, Natick

Even after the closure of the Franklin Street branch in Boston, Bank of America has 15 branches in Beantown. The slated closures of the Framingham and Natick branches could impact some customers in Middlesex County.

Michigan

Slated to close

  • 40950 Van Dyke Avenue, Sterling Heights

Bank of America plans to close one of its three Sterling Heights locations, but the other two will remain open for now.

Missouri

Slated to close

New Jersey

Slated to close

  • 3131 Route 38, Mount Laurel

Mount Laurel, NJ, will lose its Bank of America branch this year, but there will be several remaining branches in Burlington County and the greater Philadelphia area.

New York

Slated to close

  • 560 2nd Avenue, New York

The loss of one NYC branch may be an issue for some Bank of America customers. But luckily, dozens of branches remain in the Big Apple.

Rhode Island

Slated to close

  • 50 West Shore Road, Warwick

While the West Shore Road branch will close in 2026, the Bald Hill Road branch in Warwick will remain open, so local customers will still be able to access in-person services.

South Carolina

Recently closed

  • 1301 Gervais Street, Columbia

Slated to close

  • 2275 Ashley Crossing Drive, Charleston
  • 2021 Sunset Boulevard, West Columbia

Virginia

Recently closed

  • 20890 Davenport Drive, Sterling

Slated to close

  • 1801 Greenbrier Parkway, Chesapeake

The closure of the Sterling location leaves no more Bank of America locations in the city. Of Chesapeake's two Bank of America branches, one will close in 2026.

Washington

Slated to close

  • 128 Bendego Boulevard N, North Bend
  • 1309 4th Avenue, Seattle

FAQs

Why is Bank of America closing branches?

Bank of America, like many banks, is closing some branches as more customers use online and mobile banking instead of visiting physical locations. Lower in-person traffic has reduced the need for some brick-and-mortar branches.

How will I know if my Bank of America branch is closing?

Bank of America typically notifies affected customers before a branch closes. You can also check the bank's website or contact customer service for the latest information.

What should I do if my only nearby Bank of America branch is closing?

Check for the next closest Bank of America financial center, consider using online or mobile banking for everyday transactions, or compare other banks and credit unions if convenient in-person banking is important to you.

Bottom line

When you are trying to build wealth, it is good to have a bank branch you can visit. But brick-and-mortar branches continue to close as more people turn to online banking.

Fortunately, customers in many of the places on this list will have other branches available to them should they want to continue to keep their money with Bank of America. But if you'd rather not have to worry about whether you can bank in person and where, you can always open an online bank account. See some of the easiest bank accounts to open online for the best options that are just as quick and painless to apply for as walking into a branch.
