So, which cars are the most likely to be picked off the street? Here are the top 10 most stolen vehicles in Florida based on the latest data from 2022 by the National Insurance Crime Bureau.

Florida wasn't the only state in which car thieves liked the Sonata. In fact, the state was one of 24 states on the list by the National Insurance Crime Bureau to see the Sonata as one of the top 10 most stolen vehicles.

9. Honda CR-V

Vehicles stolen: 580

SUVs are a popular option for many drivers, but the Honda CR-V is surprisingly the only SUV in Florida's top 10 most stolen vehicles.

That may be one reason you might want to choose an SUV as your next car if you're a Florida resident.

8. Dodge Charger

Vehicles stolen: 639

The sporty Dodge Charger can go from 0 to 60 in 3.6 seconds, which might be why it's popular with thieves who want to get somewhere fast or take the Charger out for a spin.

The Charger also has a higher MSRP than similar cars like the Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro, making buying less affordable than stealing it.

The Toyota Camry sold more than 290,000 units in 2023, placing it firmly in the top 10 best-selling cars in the U.S.

But the vehicle's popularity with drivers could also make it popular with thieves as it's easy to get, and there's a large market for parts once a car is stolen.

4. Chevrolet Pickup (Full Size)

Vehicles stolen: 992

Chevrolet pickups are some of the most popular vehicles in the U.S., with the Chevy Silverado as the second best-selling vehicle in 2023, with around 540,000 units sold.

Its popularity could be why it made Florida's list of the 10 most stolen vehicles in the state and topped the list for most stolen vehicles in the U.S.

3. Nissan Altima

Vehicles stolen: 1,000

The Nissan Altima was another popular vehicle that ended up in the top 10 most stolen vehicle lists for states.

Florida is one of 24 states where the Altima made the top 10. However, the model didn't crack the overall top 10 list for most stolen vehicles in the U.S.

2. Honda Accord

Vehicles stolen: 1,003

Florida residents who own an Accord aren't alone in having their cars stolen.

According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, the Accord found its way into the top 10 most stolen vehicles for 41 states and was the fourth most stolen vehicle in the U.S..

1. Ford Pickup (Full Size)

Vehicles stolen: 2,030

The Ford F-Series sold more than 750,000 units in 2023, making it the best-selling truck in the U.S. and a target for thieves. According to Ford, Florida bought the most 4x2 versions of the popular truck of any state.

The 4x2 models usually weigh less and are more fuel efficient, potentially making them a more popular option than a 4x4 model. A 4x4 might be better if you live somewhere with snow, which is definitely not Florida.

When shopping for a new car, it's a good idea to shop around and compare policies to save money on car insurance, too.
