With the "coastal grandma" trend hot as ever and showing no signs of stopping, social media is abuzz with excitement over a gorgeous mottled blue accent cabinet from Costco. The store's Keeley 72-Inch Accent Cabinet brings to mind coastal town decor, but savvy shoppers discovered a nearly identical product available from Wayfair — for almost half the price.

Costco fans swear by the low prices offered by the wholesale giant, but do they really offer the best deals and lowest prices? See how these two products compare despite the huge difference in pricing.

The cabinet in question

Price: $649.99

Costco's accent cabinet features composite wood construction, four doors with slow-close Euro hinges, acrylic handles, and adjustable interior shelving. It also offers back panel cable cutouts to keep unsightly cords organized and out of the way.

The door panels use a classic fluted wood pattern that offers an appealing texture to the furniture. It's a great little cabinet, but how does it compare to the dupe that costs half as much?

Wayfair's competitor

Price: $339.99

This sideboard cabinet — called the Amarilys 62.2-inch Sideboard — looks stunningly similar, but immediately, shoppers can see it is about 10 inches shorter. It's also constructed from composite wood; however, the doors feature vertical slat paneling rather than the fluted complexity of the Costco alternative.

The door paneling is the main visual difference; however, combined with the plain black handles, it leans more toward a farmhouse style. The hinges are also modern, offering magnetic closures and noiseless closing. It is available in the same stormy blue but also black, white, and mottled green.

Walmart also has an identical twin cabinet

Price: $299.98

The Eclife Retro Pantry Cabinets from Walmart is identical to what Wayfair is offering but for $40 less. They only come in blue and white options, but they are quite literally the exact same cabinet, just less expensive.

The only downside is that they are currently out of stock in blue, so if you can't wait a second longer, you'll have to settle for a white-paint version.

Bottom line

gguy/Adobe wayfair logo on smartphone

Some copycat dupe products don't stand up to product quality, but the Wayfair alternative to Costco's accent cabinet seems practically identical unless you have a particular passion for fluted wood.

It's also available in more color options, so those annoyed that the blue won't match the rest of their decor can find alternative colors and save nearly half the cost.

However, the best price can be found at Walmart, which carries the same version as Wayfair but for $40 less.

Some customers looking to save money shopping have started seeking Costoc alternatives, finding the membership value decreasing along with prices that aren't always competitive anymore. Alternatives offering lower pricing and not requiring membership fees are starting to lure customers away from wholesale membership clubs.
