I’ve Tried Dozens of Costco Breakfast Foods - Nothing Beats This One

Breakfast is big in my family. And that means I've tried it all. And yes, I've scoured Costco's aisles in a quest for the most mouthwatering morning meal.

If you want to learn how to save money at Costco while feeding your family, keep reading to see which breakfast gives you the most bang for your buck, including the best Costco breakfast meal ever.

My picks cover everything from bakery pastries and muffins to freezer finds, cereal, and a pancake mix that only needs water. Some are sweet treats for special occasions, while others are lighter options you can grab on a busy weekday morning.

Forget about fancy frittatas from gourmet eateries. This at-home option is just as good, in my opinion.

Between the light, fluffy egg whites, savory spinach, and creamy mozzarella cheese, this foodie find makes the list as one of my favorites. As a bonus, at 70 calories per serving, I don't have to feel guilty about noshing on a few of these mouthwatering minis.

Costco's box comes with 20 individually wrapped frittatas made with cage-free eggs. Tomatoes, onions, and red bell peppers round out the veggie blend, and each one has 5 grams of protein. They're also gluten-free. Keep them in the freezer and heat them up in the microwave or toaster oven.

Don't let the price throw you. This is a two-for-one breakfast buy. Costco's mix-and-match Danish deal lets you choose four danishes, but two flavors (one of each or two of the same): almond, cream cheese, or cherry.

While shoppers enjoy the rich, buttery goodness of all three options, almond is my go-to. The pie-like filling, indulgent icing, and flaky shell make this pastry a top contender.

Each package holds four Danishes, so you'll bring home eight in total. Just know the almond version is the most indulgent of the bunch. At 760 calories apiece, it has nearly twice the calories of the cherry Danish, according to The Takeout.

Kirkland's classic all-butter croissants made it to the runners-up circle, but not the top of my list. Even though I adore the flaky layers of perfectly puffed (but completely crispy) pastry, you'll have to wait to find out why this isn't the winner.

That said, at less than $7 for a dozen, this is one bargain you can't pass up. For reference, a single takeout chocolate croissant from Panera costs $4.39.

Costco bakes these fresh in its bakery department, and each croissant has about 300 calories. They make a great base for breakfast sandwiches with eggs and cheese, and they freeze well if you can't finish all 12.

Convenience is crucial. And this 22-ounce bag of chocolate chip cookie granola makes breakfast a breeze. Yes, my sweet tooth enjoys the delicious dessert-like flavor. But my brain (and body) like that this cereal is made with 100 percent whole grains and only has six grams of sugar per serving.

The cookie-like clusters get their flavor from dark chocolate chunks, almond butter, and coconut sugar, and chia seeds add a little extra crunch. It's also gluten-free.

Here's a tip: Mix the crunchy, cookie-flavored granola with dried fruit (like KS blueberries or mangoes) and a handful of almonds for a tasty, travel-ready treat.

Cold cereal is an easy option that I always enjoy. With so many options, why is this one a runner-up? Along with giving it a 10/10 for its crispy, crunchy taste, the organic no-sugar-added berry blend is a healthy alternative to other popular breakfast buys.

Every bowl mixes whole grain flakes, blueberry granola, almonds, and dried blueberries, and date powder adds natural sweetness. 

The cereal is USDA Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified. Costco's 34-ounce box comes with two 17-ounce bags to help keep it fresh.

 Walmart lists the same size box for about $23, so you'll save by buying it at the warehouse club.

Even though the six-pack of sweets won't exactly help you get a six-pack, it's a worthy once-in-a-while breakfast treat. Topped with indulgent cream cheese icing and baked in a brown sugar-and-honey glaze, this KS find is perfect for special occasions like birthday brunches and baby showers.

The six oversized rolls come in a 44-ounce oven-safe aluminum pan. Warm the whole pan at 325 degrees for five to seven minutes to melt the icing, or microwave a single roll for about 30 seconds. 

These tend to pop up seasonally, especially around the holidays, so grab a pan when you spot one.

Pass on pricey pancakes from expensive eateries and make your own at home. If you're looking for an easy way to save money on a tasty breakfast, I suggest this bag of buttermilk mix. Forget about wasting cash on eggs and butter. All you need is water to make this meal.

The 10-pound resealable bag is made with sweet cream buttermilk and has no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. 

Worried about using up that much pancake mix? Tasting Table suggests turning it into waffles and desserts, or even using it as a batter for homemade onion rings and chicken nuggets.

I'm a bargain shopper. My money-saving side loves this two-pack for under $17. Quiche is a gourmet goody that I found for $13 at a local Pennsylvania eatery. That's for a single serving. So, when I saw that I could get two whole pies for just a few dollars more, I was all in.

Each 23-ounce quiche has an egg white custard filling. The pack pairs spinach and artichoke with a second flavor, such as cheddar and broccoli. 

Bake at 375 degrees until the center reaches 165 degrees, or freeze one for later. Each serving of the spinach and artichoke version has 11 grams of protein.

And the winner is…Costco's lemon raspberry muffins. The citrus zest of lemon combined with a tart, tangy raspberry flavor is a refreshing mash-up.

If you're not a fan of heavy, hearty breakfast foods, this is a lighter, brighter option that won't weigh you down all day. That's not even the best part. A crumbly lemon streusel topping gives major dessert vibes in a delightfully decadent way.

Each pack comes with eight 4-ounce muffins, and butter is the second ingredient, which gives them a rich, homemade texture.
