Inflation hit a three-year high in May, leaving consumers worried about how they would pay for everything from groceries to gas. White costs are increasing across the board; Costco quietly lowered prices on some of shoppers' favorite Kirkland Signature products.

Store-brand generics make it easy to get more out of your Costco membership. But now, according to the company's May 28 earnings call, shoppers could save even more. Which private-label products can help you to stretch your shopping budget further? Keep reading for more info on the recent round of price changes.

Editor's note: Prices and availability are subject to change and may vary by location.

What does CEO Ron Vachris say about Costco's pricing?

It seems like low prices are a sticking point for Costco's CEO, Ron Vachris. Back in March, Vachris made an Instagram video promising to keep one of the most iconic Food Court items (the hot dog combo) at $1.50. The CEO doesn't mince words in the clip, saying, "The hot dog price will not change as long as I'm around." And now, he's turning his attention to some of Kirkland Signature's other popular products.

During the most recent earnings call, Vachris explained, "Our buyers continue to demonstrate their ability to adapt, and are using their significant experience and expertise to try to reduce the impacts on prices for our members. Our goal is to be the first to lower prices and last to raise them."

While Vachris didn't talk directly about Kirkland Signature products, Costco's CFO, Gary Millerchip, did. Millerchip reiterated the CEO's sentiment, stating, "Our goal is to be the first to lower prices where we see opportunities to do so." He continued, listing examples of price changes for popular Kirkland Signature items.

Kirkland Signature Crispy Chicken Wings

Costco's store-brand crispy chicken wings are a new-ish addition to the Kirkland family of products that shoppers enjoy. Redditor Few-Satisfaction-557 raved, "They're fabulous and even better (for me) gluten-free."

This bulk buy includes four pounds of heat-and-serve crispy-coated chicken and classic Buffalo sauce. Not only is the protein-packed (17 grams per serving) product an affordable alternative to takeout, but it's also a breeze to whip up. Simply air-fry the wings for 18 to 20 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit, cook them in a 425-degree oven for 28 to 30 minutes, or microwave them for about 6 minutes.

According to Millerchip, Costco will lower the current $16.99 price to $14.99.

Kirkland Signature Milk Chocolate Almonds

This sweet treat is a snacktime favorite. Whether you're a fan of nuts, chocolate, or both, the three-pound tub of Kirkland Signature almonds is a must-have pantry product that members adore. One Costco subreddit user gushed, "Kirkland Chocolate Covered Almonds — the only reason I have a membership."

Flavor isn't the only reason to choose this generic (and delicious) dessert. The new, more affordable price makes it even more appealing. Millerchip noted that Costco will lower it by a full dollar, from $19.99 to $18.99.

Kirkland Signature Golf Balls

Golf is an expensive game. But if you're a Costco member, it just got cheaper. Kirkland Signature golf balls were already a value compared to similar brand-name buys. For reference, you'll pay over $57 for a box of 2025 Titleist Pro V1 golf balls at Dick's Sporting Goods.

How much more can you save at Costco now? Per Millerchip's announcement, the price will drop from $32.99 to $29.99.

Kirkland Signature King Size Sheets

Groceries and sports gear aren't the only Kirkland items getting a 2026 price reduction. Millership also said the price of king-size sheets will change by $10, from $89.99 to $79.99.

The 680 thread-count Pima cotton set includes one flat sheet, one fitted sheet, and four pillowcases. Shoppers praise this pick in the product's review section. One Costco member wrote, "These sheets are so comfortable, best I've ever had! Soft, silky feel, easy to put on, and they stay in place."

As of now, there's no information on whether Costco will lower the price on the twin, full, or queen sizes.

Inflation and the rising cost of groceries

According to recent U.S. Department of Agriculture statistics, the price of food increased by 3.8% between April 2025 and April 2026. This illustrates the overall shift in the market, making it harder for Americans to afford groceries. It also means that something as seemingly insignificant as saving a few cents can add up.

Vachris also recently noted, "The moves that we have made on pricing were strategic, not reactionary."

Even though the retailer is expected to lower the prices of some Kirkland Signature items, the generics still offer overall savings compared to comparable brand-name items.

Bottom line

When it comes down to it, almost all Kirkland Signature buys are bargains. That is, compared to comparable brand-name products. And while the new reductions can help you to save money on groceries and more, sticking with generics is an easy way (across the board) to keep your budget in check.

Costco hasn't announced how long the lower prices will hold or if the retailer will add other products to the list. So if you're in the market for crispy wings, chocolate almonds, golf balls, or sheets, snap up these lower-priced picks ASAP.
