Fast food used to be about convenience, consistency, and getting what you expected each time. Customers say that for some franchises, that's no longer the case, with rising prices, smaller portions, and declining quality frustrating diners.

McDonald's

According to The American Customer Satisfaction Index, McDonald's is the worst-ranked fast-food restaurant. Customers complain that their food is dry, overcooked, and overpriced.

On Reddit, users share that McDonald's breakfast is the only menu item that's still good and that their employees are rude. Their newest burger, the Big Arch, is also getting some backlash, with Reddit users saying it's too salty, needs more flavor, and is too expensive (almost $12).

Burger King

Burger King has been accused of shrinkflation, with customers saying their products have gotten smaller but the price continues to increase.

Customers also complain that the flavor of the food has gone downhill, with burgers no longer tasting flame-grilled. Even signature items, like French fries, don't taste the same anymore, disappointing longtime fans.

Raising Canes

Raising Cane's has gotten criticism from customers who say that the size of the food has decreased, with Reddit user whodisguy sharing, "Went from actual full-sized chicken tenders to glorified nuggets." Other diners say the food lacks flavor and that even the signature sauce doesn't do much to improve the taste.

Everything that should have flavor was on the plate, but there was no flavor."

Wendy's

Wendy's used to be a favorite fast food restaurant, but customers aren't satisfied anymore. Some complain that it takes too long to get the order, others say it's too expensive, while many criticize the food quality.

Reddit user ironsheik84 shares, "Their spicy chicken sandwich was my favorite fast food item of all time, and now it's just a pile of tasteless mush."

KFC

KFC is no longer the fan favorite it once was, with rankings continually declining. In a recent study, their chicken tenders ranked as the third-worst fast food item, and their sandwiches ranked fourth.

Popeyes

Popeyes rating has been consistently dropping each year, with some rankings placing it as the second-worst fast food chain in the United States.

Some customers say Popeyes has bad service, including rude and impatient employees. Diners also say it lacks the food quality it once had. These issues are catching up to the company, with one of Popeyes largest franchise operators going bankrupt and around 20 stores closing.

Little Caesars

Little Caesars has always been an affordable option for a quick pizza, but they're losing favor with customers. While the prices are still low, diners say the quality has declined over the years.

Reddit user beastie362 reminisces over Little Caesars of the eighties, saying the "Dough was bubbly and airy, ingredients were way better quality."

Although Jack in the Box signed development deals in 2023 to open new locations, their customer satisfaction isn't very high anymore. Plus, despite these new openings, they've closed many locations with plans to close more.

Tim Hortons

Tim Hortons has faced criticism from longtime fans who say it isn't what it used to be. Many reference their change in coffee suppliers as one reason they went downhill. They also stopped baking fresh in-store, and customers claim it led to a decrease in quality.

Subway

Subway has lost customers over the years, with many missing when the food was actually fresh. Quite a few complain that it's too expensive, like Reddit user Foreign_Primary4337, who explained that their "sub alone was $11.50. No drink. No cookie."

Other customers, like Reddit user nmracer4632, still reminisce about how Subway "used to dig out the center of the bread to make room for all the meat and toppings."
