As for in-store hours on Dec. 24 and 25, it will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the former and closed entirely on the latter.
Home Depot
If you've ever lived through a home renovation, you know that having Home Depot open around the corner can be a lifesaver.
You're in luck if you need supplies or gifts for home improvement lovers on Christmas Eve. Stores open at regular hours and close at 5 p.m. But be aware that the retailer won't open their doors on Christmas Day.
Aldi
Known for its low prices, quirky German products, and their famous finds, Aldi is one of the fastest-growing grocery chains in the U.S. All Aldi stores are closed on Christmas Day every year.
Fortunately, many Aldi locations will have modified hours on Christmas Eve, with some locations closing as late as 4 p.m.
7-11
One of the most ubiquitous convenience stores in the country, 7-Eleven is usually open 24 hours per day, seven days a week in most locations.
The same may hold true for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 2025, though some outlets may have modified hours. Check with your local store ahead of time for details.
Buc-ee's
Buc-ee's may be a gas station with sparkling clean bathrooms on paper, but it's the vast array of food and merch that have made the chain a legend.
For last-minute gifts, snack attacks, or a delicious meal before the main course, Buc-ee's is open 24/7 on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Costco
From bulk groceries and everyday essentials to baked goods and Christmas gifts, you can count on Costco to have abundant stock.
Historically, the majority of Costco locations remain open on Dec. 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., though specific hours may vary by location. However, they will be closed on Dec. 25.
CVS
Anchored by pharmacies but stocked with an inventory that runs the gamut from groceries to gifts, you can usually count on CVS stores to be open around the clock.
On both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, most CVS stores are open on a shortened schedule. The pharmacy may be closed, however. Check with your local store to verify these details.
Kroger
If you live in one of the 16 states in the South and the Midwest where Kroger operates, you can grab that gallon of milk or can of pumpkin puree on Dec. 24.
Most Kroger stores will be open with modified hours that day, but closed on Dec. 25, so stock up accordingly.
Lowe's
If you have a DIY enthusiast or someone handy on your Christmas list, Lowe's may come in as a smart stop at the last minute.
The tool purveyor will be open on Dec. 24 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., but make sure you get what you need as they're closed the following day.

Publix built its reputation on attentive customer service and a pleasant shopping experience, and the grocery store opens its doors to shoppers on Christmas Eve, though the hours will likely be limited and may vary by location. The store is closed on Christmas Day.
Sam's Club
On the surface, Sam's Club seems a lot like Costco, but members say there are key differences, including extended hours for Plus Members.
That perk will be in play on Dec. 24, as Sam's Club will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Plus Members, opening an hour later for Club Members. Like Costco, they're closed the next day.
Target
Target has a broad inventory that spans groceries, gifts, and everything you didn't know you needed until you got there.
You can do your last-minute shopping in person on Dec. 24 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., though not on Dec. 25.
Sprouts
If you've never seen a Sprouts Farmer's Market in your neighborhood, you may soon, as the Whole Foods competitor is growing rapidly.
If you do have one in your area, they will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve, but will not open their doors the next day.
Trader Joe's
Famed for its frozen section, array of sweet treats, and addictive selection of store-branded foods, Trader Joe's has amassed its own cult following.
You'll be able to stock up on all of your favorite TJs items the night before Christmas until 6 p.m., but they won't reopen until Dec. 26.
Walgreens
If you're in need of some canned items, last-minute gifts, sweet treats, or health and beauty products, Walgreens may come in handy for you during the holidays in 2025.
All Walgreens stores will be open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, though pharmacy hours may vary.
Whole Foods
While it's known for its healthy groceries and fresh produce, Whole Foods also stocks a variety of gifts and stocking stuffers.
If you need to run to your local Whole Foods on Christmas Eve, you're in luck. They'll be open with adjusted hours, which vary by location. They're closed on Christmas Day.

Saving money on groceries might not be top of mind when you're doing last-minute shopping on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, but every little discount helps. Even finding a deal on last-minute gifts can make sticking to your holiday budget a lot easier.
