But with so many off-brand items available, which ones can you trust to come close to the classic?

While Kraft rules the boxed aisles, Reddit overwhelmingly agrees that the Great Value brand boxed mac and cheese is actually better. "The GV shell Mac and cheese is the best," raves one Redditor:

This is the Great Value Thick & Creamy Macaroni & Cheese, which comes in a 7.25-ounce box and includes elbow macaroni along with a cheese sauce mix, according to Walmart's product listing. 

It's one of the cheapest boxed dinners in the store, and Walmart also sells a Premium Original Shells & Cheese version in a 12-ounce box for a bit more if you want a heartier, cheesier take. 

Either way, it's a filling side dish or main course that costs a fraction of what most national mac and cheese brands charge per box.

Generally, one of the cheapest options when it comes to eggs is the Great Value brand. Apparently, it has a great relationship with its supplier, so it can get you the best prices.

Right now, an 18-count of large white eggs comes out to just 22.7 cents per egg, while brands like Eggland's Best will run you a whopping 38.5 cents per egg.

Great Value also sells the eggs in 12-, 36-, and 60-count packages, so shoppers can buy just what they need without paying extra per egg for a smaller carton, according to Walmart's website. 

Each egg is USDA Grade A and a good source of protein. Some shoppers on Reddit specifically call out the 18-count carton as their go-to breakfast staple, since it costs noticeably less per egg than name-brand cartons of the same size.

If you need a good multi-pack of water bottles, Great Value always has them at the best price. Customers seem to agree the taste is better, without the chlorine and salty hints of other brands.

Plus, snagging a 40-pack for just $5.47 sounds practically unheard of.

Each bottle holds 16.9 fluid ounces, which works out to less than a penny an ounce, according to Walmart's product page.

America loves Doritos for a number of reasons. Luckily, you can score a knockoff of the popular Cool Ranch flavor at Walmart for half the price of a bag of Doritos. The Glacier Ranch Tortilla Chips are less than $3, versus Doritos' $4.48.

One Redditor gushes: "I will go through a party size bag of Glacier Ranch in one [to] two days."

The Great Value bag comes in at 9.75 ounces, close to Doritos' standard 9.25-ounce Cool Ranch bag, according to Walmart's listing. 

Both bags are corn-based tortilla chips dusted with a tangy, cheesy ranch seasoning. 

Reviewers on Walmart's site often compare the two directly, with several noting that the texture is slightly different from the name brand, but the flavor holds up well enough that they don't miss paying extra for Doritos.

Fans of chocolate and peanut butter are in luck because their favorite Girl Scout cookie has been convincingly duped and is now less than half the price at Walmart.

You get 18 delicious, chocolaty, peanut butter-filled cookies covered in more chocolate. One Redditor calls these cookies "little bites of heaven."

These are the Great Value Fudge Covered Peanut Butter Filled Cookies, a stand-in for the Girl Scouts' Tagalongs. Unlike the Girl Scout version, which uses a vanilla cookie, Walmart's dupe is built on a chocolate cookie base, which some tasters say makes for a richer bite, according to food writers who've compared the two side by side.

 Reviewers on Walmart's site have rated the cookies highly, calling them "crazy good" and noting that a bag holds far more cookies than a standard box of Tagalongs for a similar price.

Great Value's trash bags are rumored to be made by Reynolds. This suggests some of their items are higher quality, including the trash bags.

Many Redditors echo the sentiment that they hold up like the Glad brand, and several Redditors admit that they only buy Great Value bags. 

A class-action lawsuit settlement did confirm that Reynolds manufactured at least one line of Great Value recycling bags, though it's not clear that Reynolds makes every Great Value bag on shelves, according to a Hunker investigation into the brand. 

The trash bags mentioned here are the Great Value Strong Flex 13-gallon drawstring tall kitchen bags, which come in a 120-count box with a fresh scent, according to Walmart's listing. That works out to well under 15 cents per bag.

Tuna can be a toss-up when it comes to quality, and some brands just don't cut it. However, Great Value tuna seems to take the cake.

A Redditor claims that "just opening the can, you can see a huge difference," and its affordable price of 88 cents per can has boosted its popularity.

Great Value Chunk Light Tuna in Water comes in 5-ounce cans and provides about 17 grams of protein per serving, according to Walmart's product listing. It's wild-caught, dolphin-safe, and sourced from a fishery certified by the Marine Stewardship Council for sustainability. 

Beyond a classic tuna salad sandwich, it also works well mixed into pasta, casseroles, or macaroni and cheese, and buying it in a multi-pack tends to bring the per-can price down even further.

While Nutrigrain is the household name for fruit and grain bars, Great Value's options are touted as even better. Redditors echo this sentiment. "It's one of the few where I actively am not a fan of the name brand," one reveals.

The Great Value brand is softer and less crumbly than its competitors, with an 8-bar box clocking in at $2.37 versus Kellogg's $3.28.

Great Value's Fruit & Grain Cereal Bars come in an 8-count box and are also sold in a 32-count variety pack, according to Walmart's listing, with flavors including apple cinnamon, strawberry, blueberry, and cherry. 

Each bar is made with real fruit and comes in around 130 calories. 

Shoppers looking to compare flavors side by side can pick up the variety pack instead of committing to a full box of just one, which can help stretch a snack budget further.

Hot Pockets are the go-to for warm, easy, on-the-go sandwiches. But the Great Value ham and cheese option has people abuzz. At $1.98, a two-pack runs at least $1 less than the Hot Pockets brand.

"They actually taste and feel like stuffed bread instead of a hollow bread shell," explains one Redditor.

This dupe is the Great Value Ham & Cheese Filled Sandwiches, sold frozen in a 9-ounce, two-count box, according to Walmart's product listing. 

Like Hot Pockets, it's designed to be microwaved straight from the freezer for a quick lunch or snack. 

Walmart also carries a similar Great Value Pepperoni & Cheese Filled Sandwiches option in bulk, so shoppers who like the ham and cheese version can look for other flavors in the same lineup at a comparable price.

If you could get a bag of knockoff Cheetos Puffs for a third of the price, you might lean into it. A 13.5-ounce bag of the popular Great Value Cheese Puffs is under $3, whereas Cheetos will run you $8 or more for the same size.

One Redditor explains, "The Great Value Puffy Cheetos taste almost exactly like regular Cheetos, except better, and they have a better texture and more cheese."

A taste test from Hip2Save that compared the two side by side found the Great Value Cheese Puffs cost about $3.12 for a 13.5-ounce bag, versus roughly $4.48 for the same-size bag of Cheetos, and named Great Value the winner overall.

If you're partial to Chick-fil-A's branded dipping sauce, it's time to try the Great Value knockoff Redditors keep praising. One Redditor admits, "Yes, [I] like it better than Chick-fil-A [sic] sauce."

The restaurant-brand version costs 22.8 cents per ounce, while the Great Value option is just 19 cents per ounce.

Walmart's product listing calls this dupe the Great Value Restaurant Style Chicken Dipping Sauce, and it comes in a 12-fluid-ounce squeeze bottle. 

Chick-fil-A describes its sauce as a blend of barbecue sauce, honey mustard, and ranch dressing. 

While the two brands don't share an ingredient list, many shoppers say Great Value's version tastes close enough to dip nuggets, fries, or sandwiches without a trip to the drive-thru.

Cheez-Its are a fan favorite because of the real cheese flavor and crunchy, satisfying bite, but a 21-ounce box will run you $5.87, while the same-sized Great Value option is less than $5, and many say it's even better than the original. 

One Redditor exclaims, "Great Value 'cheez its' are by far better than the name brand."

According to Walmart's product listing, Cheez-It's Original Cheese Crackers are made with 100% real cheese and sold in a 21-ounce box. 

Great Value's Cheese Crackers come in the same 21-ounce size, as well as a smaller 12.4-ounce box, so shoppers can choose what fits their pantry space and how quickly the crackers tend to disappear in their house.

Rumor has it that Blue Bunny ice cream is made in the same factory as the Great Value brand, so it's no wonder that the internet is raving about their dessert options. A 48-ounce tub of the Walmart brand costs only $2.97, while the same-sized tub of Blue Bunny is $3.87.

"The GV Fudge Tracks is amazing," praises one Redditor.

It's not just a rumor: Wells Enterprises, the Iowa-based company that also produces Halo Top, makes both Blue Bunny and Great Value ice cream, according to Food Republic. 

Great Value's 48-ounce tubs come in more than a dozen flavors, including Fudge Tracks, Peanut Butter Cup, and Unicorn Sparkle. 

That price advantage holds up against other big names too, since Breyers' 48-ounce tubs and Turkey Hill's same-size tubs both cost more than Great Value at Walmart.

If you're looking for tasty, high-quality breakfast sausage for your next sandwich or on-the-go bowl, the Great Value frozen patties are it. Jimmy Dean's is $5.47, but you only get eight, so this Great Value option is a great way to save money since you get 20. 

Admits one Redditor, "They are the only patties I buy now. They're literally twice the size of the name brand."

Walmart's listing says this is the Great Value Fully Cooked Original Pork Sausage Patties, sold in a 35.6-ounce family-size bag. 

Each patty is fully cooked, gluten-free, and made with real pork as the first ingredient, so all you have to do is heat them in the microwave before serving alongside eggs or pancakes.

Many Great Value products are touted as similar to, or much better than, their name-brand counterparts. Purchasing them can help you save money on groceries without sacrificing taste and variety.
