When are shoppers able to save money at Walmart?
You don't have to wait to start saving at Walmart this summer. The newly announced deals have already hit store shelves. That gives you plenty of time to shop for everything you need before the temperature drops and pumpkin spice season begins.
What grocery items are on sale?
Walmart hasn't released a full list of every item included in this round of price reductions. But the retailer announced a few notable picnic-ready products perfect for summer soirees.
Some of the other top grocery deals to take advantage of ASAP include Rollbacks on fresh sweet corn (old price: $0.68 each, new price: $0.25 each), a 2.25-pound bag of fresh red cherries (old price: $11.18, new price: $5.63), Great Value ice cream (old price: $2.97, new price: $2.50), an eight-ounce bag of Lay's Classic Potato Chips (old price: $2.97, new price: $2.50), the 18-count Frito-Lay Family Fun Variety Pack (old price: $9.97, new price: $8.97), 24-packs of Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar (old price: $14.97, new price: $9.97), and 24-packs of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, and Diet Mountain Dew (old price: $13.97, new price: $9.97).
Is ground beef on sale?
The per-pound price of beef jumped from $5.98 in May of 2025 to $6.75 in May of 2026, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. If burgers don't fit your barbecue budget, you now have a less expensive option.
Walmart is touting brand-new bargains on ground beef as one of the season's top reductions. The price per pound of 73% ground beef roll is dropping from $6.74 to $5.94. The nearly 12% decrease makes it cheaper than what you could have paid last year.
What other items are on sale?
You'll also find price reductions in other (non-grocery) areas of the store right now.
Walmart U.S. Executive Vice President and Chief Merchant, Julie Barber, said, "This summer, we're making even more investments in price, with thousands of Rollbacks across products customers are shopping for most, including beef, fresh produce and beverages, grills, pools, toys, and summer fashion apparel. Whether they're stocking up for a backyard barbecue, heading out on vacation, or simply shopping for the week ahead, we're helping everyone save more for every occasion."
Why is Walmart lowering prices on some items?
In May, the retailer made news after the company's Chief Financial Officer, John David Rainey, said, "If the current elevated cost environment persists, we'd expect somewhat higher retail price inflation in Q2 and the second half of the year." Clearly, this was not something shoppers wanted to hear.
Based on the superstore's announcement, the move is an effort to make products more accessible and more affordable to consumers. According to Barber, "Customers count on Walmart to deliver the value they need every day, and summer is no exception."
Are the price reductions permanent?
Per Walmart's recent press release, the price reductions are summertime Rollbacks. But that doesn't necessarily mean the chain is going to increase the cost of ground beef, soda, sweet corn, or other items in the fall.
While it's possible Walmart could keep the reduced prices into the next season, don't wait to take advantage of these budget-friendly deals.
Can shoppers get Walmart's deals online?
Don't want to waste money on a drive to your nearest Walmart store? Luckily, many of the summertime price reductions are also available online.
Are there other ways to save money at Walmart?
The recent round of Rollbacks isn't the only way to save money at this superstore.
