If you can talk yourself into paying the premium annual fee, the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card can be a great card to carry. The good news is, you shouldn't need too much convincing. With an impressive list of perks, the Venture X offers more than enough value to outweigh its price tag.
In fact, taking advantage of just two of its cardholder benefits — a $300 annual travel credit and 10,000 anniversary miles (worth $100 toward travel) — could help you easily offset the annual cost each year.
But if that's not convincing enough, the card also comes with the Holy Grail of premium travel card perks: airport lounge access. That's not to mention the Hertz President's Circle elite status1 <p class="">Upon enrollment, accessible through the Capital One website or mobile app, eligible cardholders will remain at that status level through the duration of the offer. Please note, enrolling through the normal Hertz Gold Plus Rewards enrollment process (e.g. at Hertz.com) will not automatically detect a cardholder as being eligible for the program and cardholders will not be automatically upgraded to the applicable status tier. FAQs
How hard is it to get the Capital One Venture X card?
It's fairly hard to get the Capital One Venture X card since it typically requires an excellent credit score. That would be at least an 800 credit score according to the FICO scoring model. Though your credit score is only one factor that credit card issuers take into account, and having a certain credit score doesn't guarantee approval.
Does Capital One Venture X have purchase protection?
Yes, the Capital One Venture X has purchase protection as part of its Visa Infinite benefits. Its purchase protection perk provides coverage of up to $10,000 per claim and up to $50,000 per account against damage or theft of eligible purchases.
Who is Venture X for?
The Capital One Venture X is for people who want a premium travel credit card that offers elevated benefits like lounge access, travel credits (especially for TSA PreCheck or Global Entry membership), and elite status perks with travel brands.
It's for the casual to frequent traveler who knows they'll be able to get enough value out of the card's benefits to justify its annual fee each year.
Bottom line
The Capital One Venture X is an amazing credit card for travelers. Offsetting the $395 annual fee in the first year is a breeze if you can earn the welcome offer (and there's not really any point in applying if you can't).
Then, every year after that, you can justify the fee by cashing in on just two of the card's many benefits: the $300 annual travel credit and 10,000 anniversary miles. After that, it's all icing on the cake.
