Publix Is Opening New Stores in 8 States (Is Yours One?)

Publix is expanding to this state, promising quality and convenience.

Shoppers in the South love Publix to save money on groceries and other items. And soon, even more shoppers will get a chance to save big at the supermarket.

Currently, Publix has stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia, and media relations manager Nicole Kraus told USA TODAY that new locations are planned to open in all of them.

So, where exactly can residents expect to find the grocery store? Check out these new spots to see if one is opening near you.

Foley, Alabama

Publix media relations manager Nicole Krauss told USA TODAY that a location will also open in Foley. According to the Publix website, this will be part of a new shopping center called The Village at Foley Crossroads and will open on June 18.

Spring Hill, Tennessee

According to Krauss, Spring Hill will also be getting a new store this year. The new Publix location in Spring Hill will be part of the Spring Hill Towne Crossing development and will stretch nearly 50,000 square feet.

While we were not able to track down an opening date, the store did host a hiring event on June 4, which suggests the company is gearing up for an opening.

Louisville, Kentucky

Blankenbaker Parkway and Shelbyville Road

Krauss also told USA TODAY that Lousiville will also be getting a new location. No opening date is known.

It will be located at Blankenbaker Plaza in what was previously a Walmart.

Store officials announced that a new location is slated to open at this intersection and will include a Publix liquor store as part of the 48,387-square-foot facility. No opening date has been set.

Cold Spring, Kentucky

AA Highway and Alexandria Pike

The company confirmed that a new location will be coming to the corner of AA Highway and Alexandria Pike at Cold Spring Pointe. Opening as part of a strip mall, the 48,387-square-foot store will bring jobs for approximately 140 associates.

Florence, Kentucky

7655 Stadium Parkway

Another Boone County location is rumored to open in Florence, although Publix hasn't confirmed whether this is true. However, a senior zoning planner for the county said the supermarket received initial zoning approval to build a location along U.S. 42 Highway in Florence.

The new location in Hebron will be at The Shoppes at Hebron Pointe. Though no opening date has been set, it will be 50,325 square feet and will employ 140 people.

In addition to the locations above, USA TODAY reports that three replacement stores in Florida will also be opening this year.
