TJ Maxx's expansion plans

These new openings are part of a larger expansion plan to bring an additional 1,300 new locations across various TJX brands to the global market. This includes other stores from across their portfolio, including Marshalls, HomeGoods, Sierra, and HomeSense stores.

Guilford, Connecticut

The store in Guilford Commons opens on Aug. 21, and shoppers can celebrate the grand opening at the new location from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. This one is replacing one in the Clinton Town Center shopping plaza that will close on Aug. 18

Washington, District of Columbia

5300-B Wisconsin Ave. N.W.

A new TJ Maxx is coming to Friendship Heights on Aug. 28. This news might be a relief to locals who have been wondering about the closed signs in the window of the Marshalls across the street. The two are sister stores owned by the same parent company, TJX, and the new location will likely meet the needs of customers who previously frequented Marshalls.

Dickinson, North Dakota

446 18th St. West

A new TJ Maxx will open on Aug. 24 in Dickinson. This will be the sixth location in the state and will bring the discount department store finds to a new market that would otherwise have a far drive to shop in person.

According to Indeed postings, several TJ Maxx stores in Utah are seeking to hire associates. The pay rate posted is between $13–$15.50 per hour, so job seekers may want to apply before the grand opening of the two new locations in the state.

The location in Toole will be opening its doors on Aug. 24.

Glen Allen, Virginia

The good news for Virginia shoppers is that the new TJ Maxx in Glen Allen is already open. It opened its doors on Aug. 10, and to mark the opening, the company committed to donating $10,000 to the Virginia Home for Boys & Girls.

The off-price retailer has 1,338 locations, according to the company's 2025 first quarter earnings report. Their parent company, TJX, operates more than 4,900 stores across nine countries — and is still expanding.
