Wells Fargo Just Closed These 62 Branches

Banks across the country have been reducing their footprint by closing thousands of physical branches over the last few years, and Wells Fargo is no exception. Since October 2023, the banking giant has closed over 60 locations — 13 of them in January alone.

4394 Main Street, Pinson

401 19th Street North, Birmingham

These closures weren’t surprising as Wells Fargo already has many locations in and around Birmingham. (Pinson is on the outskirts of Birmingham.) Customers have several other Wells Fargo branches to choose from.

2745 West Carefree Highway, Phoenix

This location was on the northern outskirts of Phoenix, which has many more Wells Fargo branches in more populated areas.

The Golden State got hit hard with Wells Fargo closures. These now-shuttered locations span the length and breadth of the state.

34237 Highway 6, Edwards

Colorado got away with just one closure in the small mountain town of Edwards. Luckily, there is a Wells Fargo bank in Avon, a busy ski resort destination nearby.

1301 Pennsylvania Avenue

This location was just a few blocks away from the White House. This closure might be a good move for the bank, as two other Wells Fargo locations are within a mile of 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Almost as hard-hit as California, Florida saw 10 branches close in 2023. These closed locations are on both the Gulf and Atlantic Coasts.

1440 Highway 138, S.E. At I-20, Conyers

6175 Windward Parkway, Alpharetta

Each of the three Georgia closures was on the outskirts of Atlanta. Hopefully, customers won’t be too inconvenienced, as each closed location has others close by.

4505 Douglas Avenue, Des Moines

Des Moines has five other banks and several ATMs within its city limits plus another on Douglas Avenue in Urbandale, so this closure shouldn’t be too devastating.

210 East Corporate Drive, Meridian

114 East Appleway, Coeur D'alene

320 A Street, Idaho Falls

It’s evident that Wells Fargo is condensing (rather than eliminating) its footprint with these bank closures. Each of these Idaho cities is still left with at least one bank location after the closures.

10 S. Wacker Drive, Chicago

While the bank at this location has closed, it appears there is still an active Wells Fargo ATM at this location.

7475 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda

1906 Towne Center Blvd., Suite 285, Annapolis

Both of these closures were in busy locations — the former Bethesda location was between two major thoroughfares and the Annapolis closure was in a large strip mall.

2301 North 48th Street, Lincoln

This branch near the University of Nebraska — Lincoln has closed, but the ATM next door remains operational.

50 East State Street, Trenton

This closure follows the trend of closing branches in the heart of major cities. Trenton, however, still has other branch locations.

970 Bosque Farm Boulevard, Bosque Farms

1275 Country Club Road, Santa Teresa

While Bosque Farms has a nearby branch open in Los Lunas, Santa Teresa residents will have to travel across the Texas border to get to the nearest Wells Fargo branch.

4045 South Virginia Street, Reno

1001 So. Rainbow Boulevard, Las Vegas

Both Reno and downtown Las Vegas have numerous Wells Fargo branches, so these closures are to be expected as the company is decreasing redundant locations.

110 NE Roberts Avenue, Greshem

5615 S Macadam Avenue, Portland

Each of these closures is in the Portland metro area, which is still home to numerous Wells Fargo branches.

While Allentown and Harrisburg residents may be relatively unaffected by these closures, Flourtown customers must now travel about five miles to the nearest Wells Fargo bank.

Virginia customers don’t have to worry about these closures too much as each city with a closure has other locations. However, in several instances (like Williamsburg and Blacksburg) the open location is across town from the shuttered branch.

1527 Highlands Dr., Ne, Issaquah

These closures aren’t surprising as Issaquah isn’t big enough to warrant two locations and Kirkland has several others.

636 Wisconsin Avenue, Sheboygan

Sheboygan customers still have access to Wells Fargo Advisors and the ATM downtown, but now they will have to go to the north end of the city for branch access.

Pro tip: Online banks often offer mobile apps, high-yield savings accounts, and other helpful features that prevent you from missing a physical branch.

Wells Fargo has been on a branch-closing spree since October 2023, but it’s not done yet — 55 more branches are on the chopping block for 2024.

Most of the locations that have closed were redundant and have other branches close by. However, customers may now have to travel farther in person for important money moves.
