I’ve Tried Dozens of Sam’s Club Deli Items and This Is My Favorite

I love Sam’s Club for its affordable home goods, frozen meals, and bulk snacks, but the deli might be the most underrated section of the store. From ready-to-heat meals to premade sides, these food items are my secret to getting food on the table faster and saving money at Sam’s — and many of them are made fresh in-store each day.

While the $5 rotisserie chicken may be the most iconic deal at Sam’s Club, the store’s deli section is stocked with far more, but there’s one that I love more than the others.

Price: $6.98

For $6.98, you can get a 5-pound tub of premade potato salad with a southern twist featuring red peppers, celery, and onion. The jumbo-sized container comes with 16 servings and is 230 calories per portion.

With more than 3,200 five-star reviews, this convenient potato salad is a crowd-favorite among Sam’s Club shoppers. “Listen if you are pressed for time and not able to whip up your own potato salad...This is the one to go to,” Angela Mckvian said.

It’s hard to beat homemade macaroni and cheese, but making it from scratch requires a lot of time. You can get this massive 2.65-pound tray of Member’s Mark ready-to-bake mac and cheese for just $8.29 in the deli section, and all you have to do is cook it in a 375-degree oven for 40 to 50 minutes.

These premade mashed potatoes are a huge time saver for a holiday celebration or a regular weeknight. The fully cooked mashed potatoes are made with butter, milk, and salt. You’ll get a two-pack of two-pound containers that just need to be microwaved for a total of 6.5 to 7.5 minutes.

“Snuck these in at Thanksgiving,” Sam’s Club shopper Granny said. “Everyone loved them.”

Need a dessert for a large party? Make your way to the deli section’s baked goods for a cookie tray, whether a seasonal assortment or classic chocolate chip. For $21.98, you can get a whopping 60 cookies, which means you will be paying 37 cents per cookie.

When you don’t have the time to whip up a batch of homemade soup, this premade broccoli cheddar soup is an excellent alternative. The two-pack is $8.98, totaling four pounds of ready-to-heat soup.

The rich, creamy soup features broccoli and cheddar, of course, along with carrots, onions, and Dijon mustard. “This soup is as good as homemade soup but a lot easier!” one Sam’s Club reviewer said.

Save yourself some chopping and dicing with this pre-assembled Cobb salad kit. It has bacon crumbles, grilled chicken, tomatoes, hard-boiled eggs, and red onion on a bed of romaine lettuce with an avocado ranch dressing. The kits are about two pounds, totaling $10.61.

“This is one of the best made salads I've ever purchased,” Sam’s Club reviewer TC said. “This can be a great dinner for two or a two-day meal for one.”

You’ve probably tried honey-roasted ham, but what about honey-roasted turkey breast? This thinly sliced deli meat is a great source of protein for sandwiches or wraps.

You’ll get ten servings in the one-pound container, which breaks down to 68 cents per serving. “Quantity meat at a great everyday price,” Tom F said. “The packaging makes easy access and storage.”

The Member’s Mark taco kit makes for an easy weeknight dinner, complete with tortillas, shredded chicken, cabbage slaw, lime wedges, grated cheese, salsa, and lime crema sauce. For $13.97, it feeds 10 to 12 people, making each serving $1.40 or less. “Delicious, fresh, and everything you need included for a quick dinner,” Ralf said.

The deli section is a great resource for meal planning as well as high-protein snacks, like this 12-pack of conveniently portioned cheese, nuts, and dried fruit. You’ll get two different varieties: one featuring sharp cheddar, cashews, and dried cranberries, while the other has white cheddar, almonds, and dried cranberries. Each pack is 180 calories with seven grams of protein.

“Great to take on the go or put in lunches,” Sam’s Club reviewer JKF said. “It's a good mix of salty and sweet.”

Skip the canned chicken noodle soup for this fresher, premade Member’s Mark version. It includes seven servings of soup, each with 150 calories and 16 grams of protein. You can heat it on the stovetop or microwave for about six to seven minutes. At 16 cents per ounce, it’s about half the price of Panera’s ready-made chicken noodle soup sold at Target.

Whether for dipping pretzels or veggies, the Member’s Mark tomato basil-flavored hummus is a can’t-miss unique deli section find. The chickpea-based dip is gluten-free and vegan without any artificial flavors or preservatives. Compared to the Fresh Cravings Sun-dried Tomato & Basil Hummus sold at Walmart, the Member’s Mark version is an impressive 20 cents cheaper per ounce.

The Member’s Mark sweet and smokey BBQ Baked Beans are the perfect side dish for your next grill night. Made with slow-cooked beef brisket, molasses, and brown sugar, the whole 40-ounce tub is $8.78, which is cheaper per ounce than the Freshness Guaranteed Baked Beans with Brisket from Walmart.

Price: $8.86

Throw together an easy charcuterie board or quick snack with this collection of cracker-sized precut cheeses. The variety pack includes mild cheddar, swiss, Colby jack, and pepper jack, totaling two pounds of cheese. At $8.86, it’s not much more expensive than a two-pound block of Member's Mark Colby and Monterey Jack Cheese, which goes for $6.38, and you’ll get more variety.

Price: $13.85

Get a fresh, family-sized portion of indulgent chicken alfredo without any of the prep work. The dish is made of Italian fusilli pasta and grilled chicken strips in a creamy sauce made primarily with milk, butter, parmesan, and asiago cheese.

The in-house pasta dish is priced at $3.98 per pound, which is even cheaper per ounce than a Velveeta Skillets Chicken Alfredo Dinner Kit from Walmart.

Price: $14.89

The Sam’s Club classic stuffed peppers are the ultimate easy-to-make entree for a well-balanced meal. The red, orange, and yellow bell peppers are hollowed out and stuffed with a mix of rice, ground beef, and tomato sauce. They’re priced per pound, but you’ll usually get six peppers for around $15, which is $1.49 cheaper than a single-serving Stouffer’s Stuffed Pepper from the frozen section of Safeway.
