Having a strong preference for a particular airline carrier makes finding the best airline credit card that much easier. If you’re a regular JetBlue passenger and are considering one of its co-branded credit cards, you’ve already narrowed down your search to three main options.

Here’s a breakdown of each JetBlue credit card so you can decide which one is right for you.

What JetBlue credit cards offer

Barclays US partnered with JetBlue to offer three co-branded credit cards for loyal JetBlue passengers: the JetBlue Card, JetBlue Plus Card, and JetBlue Business Card.

In addition to having zero foreign transaction fees and 50% off inflight food and cocktail purchases across all JetBlue credit cards, the suite of cards offers perks such as Points Pooling, where you can combine points with up to a total of seven people, and no blackout dates for JetBlue-operated flights.

Additionally, JetBlue Plus and the JetBlue Business Card give you access to TrueBlue’s elite loyalty status, Mosaic. To reach Mosaic status with these cards, you’ll have to spend at least $50,000 every year. Mosaic status opens the door to premium benefits like early boarding, complimentary alcoholic inflight beverages, two free checked bags, and more.

JetBlue Card

  • Current offer: 10,000 bonus points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 90 days.

The JetBlue Card is the starter option between the two consumer cards available, and has a $0 annual fee.

Aside from the bonus, you can accrue points under the card’s tiered points structure. You’ll receive 3X points on JetBlue purchases, 2X points at restaurants and grocery stores, and 1X points per $1 spent on all other purchases. Points can then be redeemed for award travel or other JetBlue-approved products and services through the TrueBlue rewards program.

You’ll also get access to standard JetBlue credit card perks, such as no foreign transaction fees and 50% off on inflight cocktails and food. This discount is applicable for the entire duration of your flight.

JetBlue Plus Card

  • Current offer: Earn 60,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 on purchases (and paying the annual fee) in the first 90 days.

If the thought of paying an annual fee doesn’t make you skittish, the JetBlue Plus Card provides significantly more benefits to make up for its $99 annual fee. The earning rate is 6X points on JetBlue purchases, 2X points at restaurants and grocery stores, and 1X points per $1 spent on all other purchases.

The card currently offers an introductory APR of 0% for 12 billing cycles on transfers that post within 45 days of account opening (then 21.24% to 29.99% (variable)). Balance transfers, however, incur a fee of $5 or 5%, whichever is greater.

Aside from the extra points you earn for JetBlue purchases, the JetBlue Plus Card celebrates your account anniversary by offering you 5,000 bonus points each year your account is active and in good standing. If you make a JetBlue Vacations purchase of at least $100 each year, you’ll receive an annual $100 statement credit.

Traveling with a group? You and up to three travel companions receive one free checked bag each, as long as each person’s airline ticket was booked using your JetBlue Plus card.

JetBlue Business Card

  • Current offer: Earn 50,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 in the first 90 days (plus another 10,000 when a purchase is made on an employee card in the first 90 days).

The JetBlue Business Card comes with similar benefits as the JetBlue Plus Card, but it’s specifically tailored to meet your business’ purchasing needs.

The rewards rate is the same as the Plus Card, with 6X points on JetBlue purchases, 2X points at restaurants and office supply stores, and 1X points per $1 spent on all other purchases. Cardholders and their travel party each also receive complimentary checked baggage for their first bag.

Every year, JetBlue Business Card users can receive a $100 statement credit after purchasing a JetBlue Vacations package valued at $100 or more. You can also receive the standard 50% off on inflight meals and cocktails and have the benefit of no foreign transaction fees.

A unique perk of this business card is its 10% points return when redeeming points toward a JetBlue-operated award flight. After you take your flight, JetBlue will return 10% of the points used back to your rewards account. For example, if you redeemed 45,000 points for a JetBlue award flight, you’ll receive 4,500 points back after your flight. If you own a business and want to rack up JetBlue rewards, this could be the best travel credit card choice.

Which card is right for you?

Deciding which is the best airline credit card from JetBlue will depend on your traveling habits and whether you can realistically take advantage of its benefits.

For example, if you’re a minimalist traveler who rarely checks a bag, the free checked bag perk through the JetBlue Plus Card might not have much appeal. In this case, the no-annual-fee JetBlue Card might be enough value for your low-key traveling style.

On the other hand, the complimentary first checked bag might be more enticing if you often travel as a family of four or more. With JetBlue checked-bag fees starting at $30 for the first bag, this benefit alone could save you $120 in just one flight, which easily makes up for the annual fee.

If you’re an entrepreneur with many upcoming business purchases planned soon, you might be able to use the JetBlue Business Card to propel yourself to Mosaic status faster.

Frequent flyers on JetBlue have a few options when it comes to earning TrueBlue reward points. By mapping out your future JetBlue travel plans, you can better assess which card’s benefits can offer you the greatest value.

FAQs

What is the best JetBlue credit card?

JetBlue offers a few different cards, including the JetBlue Card, the JetBlue Plus, and the JetBlue Business card. It can be hard to choose the best credit card as it depends on your specific spending habits and goals.

If you're looking for free bags or eager to earn anniversary bonus points, the JetBlue Plus or Business cards might be a better fit. On the other hand, if you want a $0 annual fee, you may be better off sticking with the basic JetBlue card.

What credit score do you need for a JetBlue credit card?

JetBlue cards are marketed to people with good or excellent credit. You'll generally need a credit score of 700 or higher to be eligible to qualify for one.

How many Trueblue points do you need for a free JetBlue flight?

The number of points required for JetBlue Trueblue members to book a free flight depends on the destination and when you’re traveling. For example, to book a one-way free flight from the New York City area to Charleston, South Carolina, on June 5, 2021, you'd need 8,400 points, but on June 12, 2021, you'd need 7,000 points.

JetBlue makes it easy to see how many JetBlue points you'd need to spend for airfare to your preferred destination by using the airline's Best Fare Finder tool.

Do JetBlue points expire?

Your JetBlue points will not expire as long as your card account remains open and in good standing.

Is a JetBlue credit card worth it?

For frequent travelers on JetBlue Airways, the JetBlue credit card may be a good fit. You can benefit from perks such as free checked bags and bonus points on JetBlue flight purchases. But unless you are loyal to JetBlue, you may be happier with a different travel card that provides more flexibility, both in how bonus points are earned and how they are redeemed.

Alternatives to JetBlue credit cards

While JetBlue credit cards undeniably have some great perks for frequent travelers with the airline, it's also worth considering other travel cards as well. Here are three excellent travel rewards cards for jet setters who may prefer not to be limited to one airline for earning bonus points and other perks.

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is a top alternative to JetBlue credit cards because you can earn 5X points on travel purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards®; 3X points on dining, select streaming services, and online groceries; 2X points on all other travel purchases, and 1X points on all other purchases.

Frequent travelers who prefer to use their credit card points to cut the costs of trips will also appreciate the fact that Chase provides a 25% rewards bonus when you redeem points for travel through Chase Ultimate Rewards. There is also a $50 annual credit on hotel stays purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred is also a great choice for people considering the JetBlue card because Chase Ultimate Rewards points transfer to JetBlue at a one-to-one ratio. That means you'll have the option to redeem your points for free trips on this airline if you want to do so.

Chase Sapphire Reserve®

The Chase Sapphire Reserve® is a much more expensive travel card than the JetBlue cards, as it comes with a $550 annual fee. But you get ample benefits that may make this extra cost well worth it.

These include a $300 travel credit; a 60,000 points sign-up bonus for new cardmembers who spend $4,000 within first 3 months of account opening; and the opportunity to earn 3X points on other travel and dining.

When redeeming travel through Chase Travel℠, you also get 50% more value when booking for travel. And, again, you have the option to transfer those Chase Ultimate Rewards points to JetBlue if you'd prefer to do so.

American Express® Gold Card

With its $250 annual fee, the American Express® Gold Card is also pricier than JetBlue's offerings, but you can earn a 60,000 Membership Rewards points bonus after spending at least $6,000 on the card within the first 6 months.

The Amex card also offers up to $120 in Uber Cash for rideshare or food delivery (enrollment required) and bonus rewards for spending in several categories. Cardmembers earn 4X Membership Rewards points at U.S. supermarkets (up to $25,000 per year, after that 1X) and at restaurants, plus takeout and delivery in the U.S., 3X on flights booked directly with airlines or on Amextravel.com, and 1X on all other eligible purchases.

JetBlue is also an airline transfer partner with American Express, and you can transfer your American Express card points to JetBlue on at a 1:0.8 ratio.
