Business credit cards often come with attractive perks and generous rewards programs, and the JetBlue Business Card is no exception. But like most co-branded airline cards, this card is best for loyal JetBlue travelers.

If you’re a frequent flyer with JetBlue and want to score tons of airline miles — as well as other perks such as waived baggage fees — you should give this card a close look. That doesn't mean it's right for everyone, though. This JetBlue Business Card review will help you determine if it's a good option for you.

Who should get this card?

When choosing the best travel credit card, it's important to consider your travel habits. A card branded with an airline's name, such as the JetBlue Business Card, really only makes sense if you’re a loyal customer to that airline.

If you travel regularly on JetBlue, you'll love the JetBlue Business Card’s rewards program and cardholder perks. This is especially true if you check bags on most of your trips, if you have employees you can give cards to, and if you can qualify for Mosaic benefits.

But if you tend to travel on different airlines or take different modes of transportation such as trains or rental cars, you'd be far better off with a general-purpose travel card. These cards won't restrict your bonus rewards, and you can take advantage of the perks they provide even when you're not traveling with JetBlue.

Top card benefits

  • Generous welcome offer: Earn up to 60,000 bonus points: 50,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 in the first 90 days, and an additional 10,000 points when an employee card is used to make a purchase in the first 90 days.
  • Free checked bags: You and up to three companions on the same reservation can benefit from one free checked bag on your flight — as long as you book your ticket using your card and your flight is operated by JetBlue. This could save you up to $30 per bag.
  • Bonus points on your account anniversary: Each year, you'll get 5,000 bonus points on the anniversary of becoming a cardholder, as long as your card remains open.
  • Statement credits for JetBlue vacation packages: If you purchase a JetBlue Vacation package using your card, you're eligible for up to a $100 statement credit each year.
  • Eligibility for Mosaic benefits: When you spend at least $50,000 in a calendar year on your card, you become eligible for Mosaic benefits. Mosaic is JetBlue's loyalty program. Benefits include a second free checked bag; complimentary alcohol on your flight; access to a dedicated customer service line; additional bonus points for booking JetBlue flights; early boarding; and expedited security clearance.

Earning & redeeming

Best ways to earn

Making purchases that provide bonus rewards is the best way to earn points on your JetBlue Business Card. You'll get 6X points per dollar spent on JetBlue purchases, for example. You'll also get 2X points on purchases at restaurants and office supply stores. All other purchases net you 1X points per dollar, so try to maximize the shopping you do in the bonus categories.

If you provide JetBlue Business Cards to employees, you can earn additional rewards points when they spend using their cards. Employee cards come at no extra cost. And if a purchase is made on an employee card within the first 90 days of the time you open your account, you'll even be eligible for 10,000 bonus points.

Finally, you can take advantage of PointsPooling, which allows you to combine your TrueBlue points with others.

Maximizing your redemptions

TrueBlue points earned with your JetBlue Business Card can be redeemed for Award flights through the TrueBlue portal. The destination and fare class you choose will determine the number of points required to fly free, with cheaper fares costing fewer points. You can redeem your points for JetBlue Vacation packages.

If you have Mosaic status, you can also upgrade to Even More Space seats. This requires a small number of points for an expensive upgrade. Seat upgrades offer the most bang for your buck, with the value of your points totaling around 10 cents compared with about 1.4 cents when used to book travel. Of course, you can only use your points for seat upgrades if you've earned Mosaic status by flying often on JetBlue or spending at least $50,000 on your card during the year.

Common questions

Who issues the JetBlue Business Card?

The JetBlue Business card is issued by Barclays bank.

Is the JetBlue Business Card a good deal?

The JetBlue Business Card is a good deal if you're a frequent JetBlue flyer, and you'll take advantage of perks such as free checked bags for you and your companions. Each free checked bag is worth up to $30 so you only need to fly with luggage four times — or one time with three companions — for your savings to more than cover the card's $99 annual fee.

The card is also a good deal if you book a trip through JetBlue Vacations, as you'll get a $100 statement credit.

But, you do need to redeem TrueBlue points with JetBlue, and the rewards program provides the most bonus rewards for JetBlue purchases. If you prefer other airlines, the card isn't the best deal.

Is the JetBlue Business Card hard to get?

The JetBlue Business Card is restricted to business customers who have good credit. JetBlue will also consider income and other financial factors in determining if you can be approved for the card.

Do you get a free checked bag with the JetBlue Business Card?

You and up to three companions flying on the same reservation get a free checked bag with the JetBlue Business Card, provided you book with your card and are on a JetBlue operated flight.

Other cards to consider

The JetBlue business card is a good choice for frequent JetBlue flyers. However, if you want the most flexibility in terms of earning and redeeming points, a general-purpose travel card would be your best bet. Some other options worth a look include:

  • Gold Delta SkyMiles Business Credit Card from American Express: This card comes with a smaller annual fee of $95 (waived first year), but its new cardmember bonus and rewards program aren't quite as good. New cardmembers earn only 30,000 miles after spending $1,000 within the first 3 months. You'll also earn only 2X miles per $1 spent on purchases made directly with Delta, and 1X mile per $1 spent on eligible purchases — JetBlue offers a higher rate in certain categories. Delta's card provides more flexibility in redemptions, though, as well as main cabin priority boarding for all cardholders.
  • Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Business Credit Card: The Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Business Card also has a $99, but you have more options for redeeming your points. You'll get just 2X points per dollar spent on Southwest Airlines, though, but your anniversary bonus is bigger at 6,000 points. With Southwest, bags always fly free so you don't get any waived bag fees — but you do earn 60,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of opening your account.
