Why did Aldi just lower prices?
Sixty-seven percent of Americans believe they pay "unfair" grocery prices, with two-thirds saying this is driving the cost-of-living crisis, according to the Global Strategy Group.
Aldi's recent round of reductions makes almost one-third of the store's products less expensive than they were in 2025. Scott Patton, Aldi Chief Commercial Officer, said of the new prices, "Customers trust us to help them make the most of their grocery budget, and we never stop looking for ways to run our business more efficiently so we can pass along savings."
Patton continued, "As shoppers head into fall routines and healthier habits, we're making additional investments to lower prices on our better-for-you favorites, building on the value customers already see throughout our stores."
What is on sale at Aldi right now?
While Aldi doesn't list every item on sale right now, the retailer highlights some healthier options that are more affordable now (compared to this time last year). These include products shoppers will find in the fresh produce aisle, such as Autumn crisp grapes, Bartlett pears, Brussels sprouts, butternut squash, spaghetti squash, select varieties of apples, potatoes, garlic, and fresh herbs.
Fresh fruits and veggies aren't the only bargain buys at Aldi. Shoppers could spot hundreds of discounted items throughout the store, including chicken, coffee, mixed nuts, dried fruit, chocolate, protein shakes, and even paper towels.
Keep in mind that the specific savings you see may vary by store and geographic location. But according to Aldi, a two-pound bag of Honeycrisp apples is now 35% less than it was one year ago, and the family packs of Kirkwood chicken breast are at the lowest per-pound price ($1.99) since 2022.
Are Aldi's price drops permanent?
The answer to this question is no, and sometimes yes. The current promotional prices are in effect from September 23 through November 3. But that doesn't mean the discounts will stop on November 4.
Patton explained, "At Aldi, value is a year-round promise, not a promotion." And with that in mind, shoppers could find lower prices well beyond the beginning of November.
The retailer could announce new deals at any time. This makes it important to browse the store's website before you shop. Simply click on the "Weekly Ads" tab to view the current bargains and get a preview of next week's sale prices.
Has Aldi lowered prices in the past?
This isn't the first time Aldi has lowered prices on popular products. In October of 2025, the retailer announced that a Thanksgiving meal would cost less than the year before, touting an average price of $40 per family. At the time, Atty McGrath, CEO of Aldi U.S., said in a press release, "The Aldi commitment to low prices is unwavering, and I am thrilled that we are able to offer an even more affordable holiday meal than last year."
Aldi also announced 400 temporary price drops in June of 2025, 250 reductions in May of 2024 and May of 2023, discounts on over 70 holiday meal basics in October of 2023, and even more holiday reductions in October and November of 2022. These are just a few of the advertised sales in recent years.
Do other grocery stores have comparable deals?
Consumers are always looking for the best deal. And that makes the retail grocery space a competitive market. While other stores haven't recently advertised major Aldi-level price cuts, you do have plenty of budget-friendly shopping options.
Other chains with regular sales and promotions include Walmart (look for rollbacks throughout the store), Target, Sam's Club, Costco, BJ's, and local grocers like Kroger, Giant Eagle, and Wegmans. Even though these stores often feature affordable offers, you may have to do some sleuthing to find them.
Check each retailer's website regularly for weekly, monthly, or seasonal deals, electronic coupons, or manufacturer's discounts. Superstores and warehouse clubs also have apps that make it easy to find exclusive buys or price-shop your favorite items.
Bottom line
Don't wait to nab these deals. Aldi's recent rash of price cuts won't last forever. And while the retailer is known for high-quality, low-cost buys, these brand-new fall bargains are too good to miss.
How can you maximize your savings? Stretch your grocery budget further with our favorite easy-to-follow shopping tip: Take advantage of Aldi's reduced-cost generics. Even though you can find some brand names at this retailer, dupes from Aldi's private-label lines (like Kirkwood, Happy Farms, Clancy's, Moser Roth, Mama Cozzi's, Barissimo, Nature's Nectar, and Specially Selected) are less expensive alternatives. And bonus, you won't have to sacrifice flavor just to save a few dollars.
