Burlington Is Opening 20 New Stores Across 12 States (Is Yours One?)

Burlington unveiled grand plans to expand their network of stores and downsize or relocate existing stores to offer a more effective shopping experience throughout 2026. That includes opening 20 new stores across 12 states in September alone. The company plans to open more than 100 new stores throughout the 2026 fiscal year and operate more than 1,500 in total by the end of 2028.

Burlington fans already know that the off-price giant is a great place to score excellent deals, particularly when shopping with the best cash back credit cards. The company's ambitious expansion plan aims to make shopping easier by moving closer to tens of thousands of Americans and by improving the shopping experiences in the stores themselves.

Here are the 20 locations getting new Burlington stores in September 2026, and what to expect from the company in the coming year.

Alabama

A new store was opened in Gadsden, in northern Alabama, on Sept. 4.

It is a welcome addition for locals who will no longer have to drive to Oxford or Birmingham, two of the closest stores previously, to score top-notch Burlington deals.

California

California is getting four new stores throughout September and will get a few more in October, bringing the grand total in the state to 145.

A third store opened in Anaheim on Sept. 11 on Brookhurst St. In Bakersfield, a fourth store will open on Sept. 25 on Gosford Rd.

On Sept. 25, the company will also open its first ever store in Lake Forest in Orange County, on Rockfield Blvd., and its first in Ceres, in the Modesto metro area, on E. Hatch Rd.

Florida

Expanding its 100+ store footprint in Florida, Burlington opened a store in Leesburg, which is part of the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford metro area, on Sept. 11.

There are already several stores in the general Orlando area, but this is the first in Leesburg.

Iowa

The off-price giant is also adding to its modest footprint in Iowa with a new store in Marshalltown set to open Sept. 18 on South Center St. It will be the sixth store in the state.

Maine

Maine will be getting its third Burlington on Whitten Road in Augusta on Sept. 25. It is a welcome addition as the only two stores in the state before the expansion are in Bangor and South Portland.

Maryland

As one of the largest cities in Maryland, Frederick is getting a much-needed second Burlington on Sept. 25. The new store will be on Urbana Pike, marking the 28th Burlington in the state.

Michigan

Michigan is getting two new stores in September, which will bring the total in the state to 40. One opened on Hall Rd. in Utica on Sept. 11, and the second will open on Perry Avenue in Big Rapids on Sept. 25.

New York

After the fall 2026 expansion, there will be more than 80 Burlington stores throughout New York State. New stores will open in Cicero, on Cir Dr. E, and Middle Village, on Metropolitan Avenue, on Sept. 18.

Another will open in Ridgewood on Myrtle Avenue on Sept. 25. In October, a store will also be added in Rochester on Monroe Avenue, the third Burlington in the city.

Tennessee

A second Burlington is opening in Chattanooga on Brainerd Rd. on Sept. 25. It will be the 21st store in the state. The other Chattanooga location is on Lifestyle Way.

Texas

Texas is getting two new Burlington stores in September, and a few more in October. On September 18, the company will open stores in Laredo, on Water St., and Mercedes, on US Expressway 83.

McAllen and Baytown locations are coming in October.

Virginia

With two new stores added in September, Burlington will be operating 35 stores across Virginia by the end of the month. The grand openings include a fourth store in Virginia Beach on N Mall Drive, which opened Sept. 11, and a fifth store in Richmond, which is located on Brook Rd. and will open Sept. 25.

Wisconsin

On Sept. 4, Burlington opened a store in West Bend on West Paradise Drive.

Though the city is considered part of the Milwaukee metro area, which has several Burlington stores, this is the first one in West Bend itself.
