These 9 Lucky Cities Just Got a Whole Foods (Is Yours One?)

Whole Foods is expanding and opened stores in these nine cities.

Whole Foods Market is recognized for its natural and organic products, high-quality standards, and sustainable practices. With more than 560 stores across the U.S., Canada, and the U.K., this supermarket chain has built an enthusiastic following, and many foodies are wondering when a store will pop up in their city.

California leads the way with 95 locations, and the chain kept growing in 2026 with new full-size stores from Connecticut to California and a growing lineup of smaller Daily Shop locations in big cities.

Six states still don't have a Whole Foods store: Alaska, Delaware, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, and West Virginia. But if you live in one of these nine cities, a new location opened near you this year. Just grab your best cash back credit cards to earn more when you shop.

Cheshire, Connecticut

1985 Highland Ave.

Cheshire shoppers got their own Whole Foods Market on Feb. 5, 2026. The 42,000-square-foot store is the seventh Whole Foods in Connecticut and anchors the new Shops at Stone Bridge development.

Look for more than 1,000 local items from New England, including cheese from Arethusa Farm and strawberries from Pell Family Farm. To celebrate the opening, the company donated an all-electric refrigerated van and food to Haven's Harvest, a local food rescue organization.

Rogers, Arkansas

1801 S. 46th St.

Northwest Arkansas welcomed a new 39,500-square-foot store on Feb. 18, 2026. It's the third Whole Foods in the state, joining locations in Fayetteville and Little Rock.

The store carries more than 120 local items from Arkansas and surrounding states, including coffee from Onyx Coffee Lab and beer from 12 local breweries. You'll also find hot food and salad bars, pizza by the slice, a sandwich counter, and sushi made fresh daily.

New York City (Williamsburg, Brooklyn), New York

774 Grand St.

Whole Foods brought its smaller Daily Shop format to Brooklyn on Feb. 26, 2026. The 7,888-square-foot store is built for quick trips, with fresh produce, meat, seafood, and grab-and-go meals like rotisserie chicken and sandwiches.

Shoppers can choose from more than 350 local products from Northeast suppliers, such as cookies from Wandel and labneh from Bezi. The opening also included food donations to City Harvest.

London, England

359 Upper St., Angel

Whole Foods' U.K. expansion picked up speed in 2026. The first of six new London stores opened in Angel, Islington, on April 2, and it's the company's first Daily Shop outside the U.S.

The compact neighborhood store focuses on convenience, with a hot food counter, self-serve coffee, and an Amazon kiosk. Five more London locations were scheduled to follow by mid-June in Liverpool Street, Notting Hill Gate, Wood Wharf, Monument, and St. James's, which would double the chain's U.K. count to 12 stores.

Jacksonville, Florida

1 Riverside Ave.

Downtown Jacksonville's new 38,432-square-foot store opened on May 21, 2026, in the One Riverside development in the historic Brooklyn district. Its vertical wood slat walls are a nod to the Florida Times-Union building that once stood on the site.

The store stocks more than 800 local items from Florida, including Key lime pie from Keys Fisheries and a daily selection of Florida-caught fish and lobster at the seafood counter.

Doral, Florida

10700 NW 41st St.

Doral's first Whole Foods opened on July 2, 2026. The 43,000-square-foot store is now the westernmost Whole Foods in the Miami area.

Shoppers can find more than 550 local items from Florida, including bread from Zak the Baker, coffee from Panther Coffee, and sushi from Sushi Maki. The beverage section is a standout, with more than 800 wines and 250 craft beers.

Salem, New Hampshire

On July 22, 2026, Salem got its first Whole Foods, a 34,900-square-foot store in the Tuscan Village development. It's the fifth Whole Foods in New Hampshire.

The store features more than 800 local items from New England, such as ice cream from Walpole Creamery and maple products from Ben's Sugar Shack. Its design draws on Salem's historic architecture and scenic landscapes.

Montgomery Township, New Jersey

40 Nevius Blvd., Skillman

A 45,000-square-foot store opened on Aug. 21, 2026, at the new Montgomery Promenade shopping center, just north of Princeton. It's the 27th Whole Foods in New Jersey.

More than 1,000 local items from the Northeast fill the shelves, and the decor leans collegiate with white shiplap and shades of green and blazer blue. The company also donated a refrigerated van and food to local nonprofit Manna on Main Street.

San Diego, California

201 W. A St.

Downtown San Diego welcomed a 45,400-square-foot store on Sept. 23, 2026. It's the fourth Whole Foods in the San Diego area and the 95th in California.

The store carries more than 1,500 local items from California suppliers and includes a coffee and juice bar, plus a prepared foods section with a Market Plate venue serving homemade-style meals.

Are there even more stores planned for the future?

Whole Foods isn't slowing down. Amazon has said it plans to open more than 100 additional Whole Foods stores over the next few years, and the company continues to expand its smaller Daily Shop format in dense urban neighborhoods.

Four more full-size stores are scheduled to open in November 2026: Bradenton, Florida (Nov. 5); Simi Valley, California (Nov. 10); a 63,082-square-foot flagship in Los Angeles (Nov. 11); and Scottsdale, Arizona (Nov. 12). Daily Shop leases have also been signed in Boston's Seaport district, Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood, and Philadelphia, with opening dates to be announced.

Some planned stores have already arrived, too. The Hoboken, New Jersey, Daily Shop opened on Dec. 18, 2025, at 101 Washington St.

When it comes to expansion, Whole Foods shows no signs of slowing down. With more than 100 new stores planned in the coming years and Daily Shops popping up in major cities, your city could be next.
