A new $20.5 million CVS class-action settlement could put extra cash in your pocket. U.S. residents who accessed CVS digital properties before July 27, 2026, may be eligible for a payment, but payments aren't automatic, and you'll need to submit a claim form by the November 16, 2026 deadline.

Here are the details on the settlement, claim eligibility, how to file a claim, and how much you might receive.

Set up eligible direct deposit - pocket up to $400

Set up an eligible direct deposit with SoFi Checking and Savings and you could earn a bonus of $50 or $400.1 Make the switch, set up eligible direct deposit, earn the bonus. It basically takes no extra work at all other than following these steps.

The CVS class-action lawsuit and settlement

The class-action lawsuit alleged that CVS broke laws by sharing user data from its website and app with Criteo, an advertising company. Though CVS and Criteo deny any wrongdoing, CVS agreed to establish a $20.5 million settlement fund to avoid ongoing legal costs.

"We stand by our privacy practices and believe they comply with applicable laws," said Amy Thubault, CVS spokesperson, in a statement. "The settlement resolves claims based on legal theories that challenge common online industry practices."

Who may be eligible for a payment

U.S. residents who accessed CVS digital properties, including cvs.com, cvshealth.com, or the CVS mobile app before July 27, 2026, may be eligible for a payment.

If you're not sure if you qualify or have questions about the qualification requirements, you may contact the Settlement Administrator by email at info@CVSDigitalPrivacySettlement.com, or by phone at (888) 654-1271.

How to file a claim

Settlement payments are not automatic, and qualifying individuals must file a claim to receive a payment. You may file a claim on the settlement website, CVSDigitalPrivacySettlement.com. Alternatively, you may print out and complete a claim form and mail it to:

CVS Digital Privacy Settlement c/o Settlement Administration, P.O. Box 1110, Costa Mesa, CA 92628.

Only one claim per household may be filed, and "household" is defined as people residing at the same mailing address.

Forms must be submitted or postmarked by 11:59 pm EST on November 16, 2026.

How much money you might receive

Settlement class members may qualify for up to a $10 cash payment if they provide proof of their membership in the settlement class with their claim. Documentation might include browser search history, screenshots showing dates, or email receipts of online purchasing providing you accessed a CVS digital property before July 27, 2026.

If you can't provide documentation to show proof of your access to a CVS digital property, you may qualify for a one-time cash payment of up to $5.00.

Exact payment amounts may vary depending on the number of qualifying claims received. The $20.5 million payment is used to first pay attorneys' fees and costs, payments for the plaintiffs, and settlement administration costs. The remaining money is used to pay out the settlement class member benefits.

When to expect a payment

Before payments may be sent, a court has to approve of the settlement, and a court date is set for December 1. If the settlement is approved and any appeals are completed, members who submitted a valid claim should receive a payment about 120 days after the end of the settlement approval and appeals process.

Excluding yourself from the settlement

If you remain a member of the settlement, you give up your rights to sue CVS and Criteo about the case's claims. If you wish to retain your rights to file your own lawsuit, you need to submit an exclusion request by November 1, 2026.

If you do nothing, you still give up your rights to sue, even if you don't file a claim form.

Your exclusion request must include a statement that you wish to be excluded from the settlement, a statement that you accessed CVS digital properties before July 27, 2026, your signature, and your name, address, telephone number, and email address.

Potential scams around class-action settlements

Scammers often send fake class-action settlement notices, so be cautious about any notices you might receive by mail or email. Start by Googling the name of the case to find the official settlement lawsuit; use that information to verify if the notice is directing you to the real website or trying to capture your personal information by sending you to a false website.

Look out for other red flags, too. Any request for your Social Security number or bank account information is suspicious, and settlement administrators should never ask you for any money upfront, like a processing fee or filing fee, to collect your claim.

Bottom line

If you use CVS digital products, you might qualify to receive a cash payment from the settlement. Though some settlements notify potential members of their eligibility, the CVS settlement website makes no mention of contacting individuals who might qualify to file a claim. That means it's important to take action on your own if you think you qualify. Claims must be filed by November 16, 2026, so act quickly if you wish to file.

This settlement provides relatively small cash payments, but they may still help boost your bank account and give you some extra spending cash.
