Jersey Mike's is continuing its Washington expansion, with five more locations in development from Anacortes to Yakima.

History of Jersey Mike's

Jersey Mike's traces its roots to the Jersey Shore, where the original Mike's Subs opened in 1956. Peter Cancro bought the business as a teenager in the 1970s and spent decades turning the local sub shop into a national franchise.

Cancro is now the company's founder and chairman of the board. Charlie Morrison became Jersey Mike's CEO on April 28, 2025, succeeding Cancro and taking over responsibility for the company's next phase of domestic and international growth.

The ownership picture also changed in 2024, when Blackstone acquired a majority stake in Jersey Mike's. Cancro retained meaningful equity in the company.

Expansion plans for Jersey Mike's

Jersey Mike's has plenty of room left to grow. The company now has more than 3,300 locations across the U.S. and Canada, with a domestic development pipeline of more than 1,600 additional stores as of June 2026. The company estimates there is potential for roughly 7,500 more U.S. locations based on store density in its most established markets.

International expansion is also moving forward. Jersey Mike's has signed a development agreement for 300 locations in Canada and another agreement for 400 stores across the U.K. and Ireland. The first U.K. location is expected to open in 2026, marking the brand's first European expansion.

Taken together, the company's plans point to a much larger international footprint in the years ahead, with Jersey Mike's saying it could eventually grow to approximately 15,000 stores globally.

How to order a sandwich 'Mike's Way'

Customers can order sandwiches however they want them prepared. However, the sub shop's signature style is called "Mike's Way."

When you order your sandwich Mike's Way, it will be topped with:
