Known for low prices and attractive sales, there are many ways to save money at Walmart. But if you've shopped at Walmart lately, you might want to double-check the items you purchased. Walmart's product recall page has been unusually active, and multiple products have been flagged in recent months. The recalled products include food, baby products, and household goods.
When safety issues are discovered with a product, a recall is issued to protect consumers. Agencies like the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Consumer Protection Safety Commission (CPSC), and Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issue recalls. Walmart may decide to initiate a product recall on its own. Alternatively, Walmart might receive notice of a recall from one of these agencies and then post that notice on its website to alert consumers.
Let's take a look at some of the most significant recalls that Walmart has recently posted.

Relaxing Baby Swim Floats
The CPSC issued a warning about Relaxing Baby Swim Floats on April 2, noting that the swim floats can tip over and potentially submerge a child in the water. A two-year-old child drowned while using the floats. While the seller of the floats, Wu He/Relaxing baby of China hasn't yet responded to the CPSC's request for a recall, the CPSC urges consumers to stop using the floats immediately, puncture them, and throw them away.
Frigidaire Gas Ranges
On March 19, Electrolux Group recalled about 174,800 Frigidaire Gas Ranges, noting that the ovens in the ranges can experience a delayed bake burner ignition. The delay can pose a burn hazard risk.
While the cooktop burners can still be used, Electrolux Group instructed consumers to immediately stop using the ovens in affected appliances. If you have an affected appliance, you can contact Electrolux Group, and they will provide a free professional home installation of a new bake burner.
Gpower Youth All-Terrain Vehicle
On March 19, the CPSC issued a warning about approximately 320 Gpower ATVs. According to the CPSC, the ATVs exceed the maximum speed limit for ATVs designed for kids ages six and older. The mechanical suspension doesn't comply with safety requirements, and the ATVs are missing safety reflectors. All of these factors make the ATVs a crash hazard.
The seller hasn't yet agreed to a recall, but CPSC urges consumers to stop using the ATVs immediately.
Male-to-Male Extension Cords
The CDC posted notices on March 31 urging consumers to stop using three types of male-to-male extension cords. The products include Huizhou Xiyan Digital Male-to-Male Extension Cords, Wz-Ei male-to-Male Extension Cords, and Ganjiang New District Yuslow Toys Sales Male-to-Male Extension Cords.
According to the CPSC, all three extension cords feature exposed prongs that can become energized when one end of the cord is plugged into a generator or other power source. The design can pose a risk of injury or death by electrocution. Since the cables are short, they also encourage the dangerous use of generators close to homes. The CPSC urges consumers to unplug the cords by not touching the live end and to dispose of them.
TRUE METRIX Blood Glucose Monitoring Systems
Trividia Health issued a labeling correction notice for TRUE METRIX Blood Glucose monitoring Systems. The systems' instructions could potentially cause a delay in treatment if a user doesn't immediately get medical attention when they receive an E-5 error code and are experiencing high glucose symptoms.
Trividia is revising the E-5 error code actions to emphasize the importance of immediately seeking medical attention if they receive the code and have symptoms of high glucose. Devices do not need to be returned.
Great Value Fully Cooked Dino Shaped Chicken Breast Nuggets
The FSIS issued a public health alert for Great Value Fully Cooked Dino Shaped Chicken Breast Nuggets on April 1. The nuggets, which have a "best if used by" date of February 10, 2027, may be contaminated with unsafe levels of lead.
While Walmart is no longer selling the nuggets, it's possible that some may still be in your freezer. The FSIS urges consumers not to eat the nuggets and to either throw them away or return them to Walmart.
Miss Vickie's Spicy Dill Pickle Potato Chips
Frito-Lay issued a voluntary allergy alert for Miss Vickie's Spicy Dill Pickle Potato Chips on March 3. The alert applies to eight-ounce bags; the bags could include jalapeno-flavored potato chips containing milk that is undeclared on the ingredient list. Individuals with an allergy or severe milk sensitivity could experience a life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the chips.
The chips are safe for individuals without milk allergies or sensitivities to consume.
Bottom line
Whether you shop at Walmart or save money at Sam's Club, with so many recalls being issued recently, it's important to stay on top of new recalls. You can check Walmart's recall page to identify any affected products that you might have purchased. The CPSC website is another great source, since the CPSC posts recalls of products sold by all retailers, not just Walmart.
You can also follow the CPSC, FDA, and FSIS on social media platforms to get news about the latest recalls, but seeing posts on social media can be hit or miss. Consider subscribing to receive emailed recall updates from each agency to ensure you don't miss a recall.
