"No experience necessary" gets slapped on job postings so often that it's easy to assume it's a bait-and-switch. For the 12 trades below, it genuinely isn't. None require you to have done the job before. What they do require is a high school diploma or GED, plus usually a background check, a physical ability or drug test, or a short licensing exam once you're on the job. Plus, they are great options if you are looking to get ahead financially.

Editor's note: All salary data is from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

Roofer

Median annual salary: $50,970

Roofers install, repair, and replace roofing systems on homes and buildings, working with shingles, membranes, and flashing.

BLS lists no formal education requirements. The real entry bar: a physical ability test, since the work involves climbing and working at height in all weather. Most learn on the job, though some enter through an apprenticeship.

Bottom line

All 12 of these trades genuinely hire people with zero prior experience in the field, backed by BLS data confirming that no related work experience is required. The honest bar is a high school diploma plus a background check, physical test, or licensing exam, not a resume gap. Many of these roles also pay through a paid apprenticeship or on-the-job training, meaning you are able to grow your wealth while you learn the trade rather than covering an unpaid training period out of savings.
