Whataburger is known for having a cult-like following of fans, and now there is a new study that gives weight to their claims of Whataburger being the best. A study by NetCredit compared 14 of the largest burger chains across the U.S. to find who had the best value, and Whataburger has the biggest patty and came in at the lowest price of $1.66 per ounce.
The value between size and price is an increasing concern if you want to stretch your fast food budget further in these difficult economic times.
The good news is that even more people are getting access to Whataburger. Learn where 15 new locations just opened or are coming soon.

Arizona
- Glendale: 9700 W. Northern Ave. (April 30)
The new Whataburger is close to State Farm Stadium, and the chain is hoping to serve fans of the Arizona Cardinals with an exceptional guest experience. This is the 46th Whataburger in the state, and it is going to be open 24 hours a day, every day except Christmas. This is true of all Whataburger locations and helps set the burger chain apart from competitors.
Florida
- Brandon: 1426 W. Brandon Blvd. (April 30)
- Pensacola: 9510 W. Highway 98 (Blue Angel Parkway) (May 14)
Grand openings offer new ways for customers to get savings. The new Pensacola Whataburger offered the first two guests in line and the first two drive-thru customers special gift boxes that contained free Whataburger for a year, and 100 other customers received smaller gift bags. The number of gift boxes does vary by location, with some only giving out one grand prize along with the smaller gift boxes containing merch.
Georgia
- Carrollton: 1119 S. Park St. (June 4)
The new Whataburger is the first for Carrollton. Jerico Scott-Bankhead, Operating Partner, leads the restaurant and said, "We are incredibly excited to introduce Whataburger to the city of Carrollton. Our team is committed to being a great neighbor. We've built this restaurant to be a welcoming gathering place, and we look forward to serving our famous, made-to-order burgers to our new friends."

North Carolina
- Garner: 79 Inspiration Drive (May 2026)
- Southern Pines: 200 Southern Road (June 18)
The Morganton South Shopping Center is getting a new Whataburger, near other recently opened locations in the complex, including a Starbucks and BJ's Wholesale Club.
The state got its first Whataburger in May 2025 and has now expanded to several locations across the Charlotte and Triad regions. The beloved town of Asheville is also likely to be getting a new location, according to permits filed with the City. The permits are currently under review and pending approval, but would help the popular destination with long-term recovery efforts from the Hurricane Helene damages in 2024.
South Carolina
- Rock Hill: 2265 Cross Pointe Drive (June 2026)
Initially, it was hoped the new Whataburger would open in April, but the date was pushed into June. Additional locations in Charlotte and Raleigh are expected to open later in the summer, as well. These dates have not yet been announced.
Tennessee
- Columbia: 195 S. James M. Campbell Blvd. (May 2026)
- Nashville: 1201 Gallatin Ave. (May 5)
Both cities got their first Whataburger in May, although there are 31 other locations across the state. Most are found in Middle Tennessee, and the burger chain is now expanding into new territories within the state and bringing the customizable burgers to new customers who won't have to drive so far to enjoy a fast food treat.
Texas
- Flower Mound: 3201 Long Prairie Road (May 5)
- Fort Worth: 3300 Alliance Gateway Freeway (May 18)
- Georgetown: 28713 Ronald W. Reagan Blvd. (June 2026)
- Laredo: 4047 Lomas Del Sur Road (April 27)
- Odessa: 8020 Highway 191 (May 4)
- San Antonio: 9530 Southton Road (May 4)
The new Flower Mound Whataburger has seen project delays at nearly every step, and was initially announced for opening in April. Fort Worth's new location is the first business to open in a new shopping center and cost roughly $1.18 million in renovations.
Odessa is classic territory for the burger chain, and some of the first restaurants opened there. It's no surprise the Lone Star state has the most new locations coming, considering the loyal fanbase has supported them there from the beginning.
Bottom line
Whataburger plans to bring at least 15 new restaurant locations into existence soon, so customers should keep an eye out for grand openings near them for a chance to win gifts and prizes. The luckiest winners receive free Whataburger for a year, which is a way to help tackle high grocery costs that have been limiting many consumers' typical spending habits.
There are limitations to the 'Whataburger for a Year' gift box, and it contains 52 coupons for free burgers (one per week), so it's not an all-you-can-eat buffet situation.
