PEZ

Price: $2.49

PEZ was invented in Vienna as a solution to smoking cigarettes and first came in the form of peppermints.

By 1952, the brand was sweeping the United States, and in 1958, the first licensed character, Popeye, appeared on a PEZ dispenser. However, PEZ’s flavor isn’t as bold as other candies, and the brand has been less popular recently.

But if you’re looking for an addition to your collection or want to check out what PEZ is still releasing, Cracker Barrel is a reliable location to find several options for this candy that doubles as a toy.

Werther’s Original

Price: $3.99 - $13.99

Werther’s brand — born in Werther, Germany, in 1909 — isn’t often mentioned as an in-demand candy option.

Known best for hard, butter-flavored candy, they’ve since expanded into a variety of filled candies, soft caramels, chewy caramels, and flavored popcorn.

Werther’s Original is still pretty popular in Europe and North America but much less widely found than in the 1990s. While you won’t see Werther’s Original everywhere, you can spot a few of their products in Cracker Barrel’s Country Store.

Gilliam

Price: $2.49

The handmade Gilliam brand was born in 1927 in Kentucky. Its popularity forced artist and candymaker Cleve Gilliam to level up his business throughout the ownership. He sold the company to Quality Candy in 1944.

You’ll largely only find Gilliam in specialty shops and seasonal storefronts and in limited quantities where it’s available at big box stores. But Cracker Barrel keeps them stocked, both in-person and online.

Brach’s

Price: $4.99

I rarely notice an abundance of Brach’s in the aisles of local stores unless I happen to be at CVS the day after Halloween and candy corn is on sale.

It’s our impression that candy corn is carried in country stores year-round, with the Mellowcreme Autumn mix being available for extended periods.

Dubble Bubble

Price: $2.99

Did you load up on Dubble Bubble while playing baseball, T-ball, or softball as a kid? Was your Dubble Bubble bubble-blowing the best on the block?

While the brand is iconic in America, it isn’t at the top of our minds as adults since we more often reach for minty flavors.

But if you want to uplevel your bubble skills or have a few minutes of that nostalgic, fruity taste on your tongue, pop into the Cracker Barrel country store and stock up.

NECCO

Price: $2.49

With the title of the oldest operating candy company in the United States, The New England Confectionary Company (NECCO) continues to make its quintessential sugar wafers. These wafers have been around for so long that they were given to soldiers during the Civil War.

Now, it is very rare to see the NECCO brand out and about. But you will always find it at the Cracker Barrel country store's cash wrap. Nab it for an affordable price any day between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. local time.

Candy Farm

Price: $1.99

The second oldest brand on this list is Candy Farm, established in 1853. They market their candy on nostalgia, and their Old Fashioned Blue Ribbon Neopolitan Coconut Slice Candy Bars are available at Cracker Barrel for only $1.99.

I truly cannot remember the last time I saw this candy in stock anywhere else.

Tootsie Rolls

Price: $3.49

Tootsie Roll is a historically budget-friendly brand, and people will judge you based on the candy you give out on Halloween. However, we’re all in on a good original chocolate Tootsie Roll on any given day.

If you find yourself craving this very specific flavor, head to your closest Cracker Barrel. They’ll most likely have several sizes and variations.

Goetze’s

Price: $15.99 - $21.99

During WWI, a shortage of chewing gum ingredients forced candy manufacturers to pivot. Goetze’s Candy Company — launched in 1895 — began to produce the caramel treat Cow Tales, similar in texture and chewiness to the aforementioned Tootsie Rolls.

However, the taste is creamier and right up the alley of people who enjoy a good cup of coffee. We discovered this candy in a Cracker Barrel and know where to go if we’re ever in the mood for it.

Smarties

Price: $1.59

If you ever went trick-or-treating as a child, then you are most likely very familiar with Smarties.

Founded in 1949, a man from a British candy-making family used a repurposed pellet-making machine from World War II to make the candy in a garage in New Jersey.

These chalky, fruity delights have stood the test of time as a fan favorite, and large Smarties are available for less than $2 at Cracker Barrel.

MoonPie

Price: $5.49

The MoonPie is classified as both candy and a cookie. It’s a chocolate-covered marshmallow wafer sandwich that has been delighting the masses since 1917.

While MoonPies were invented to give coal miners a filling snack on their breaks, they’re a mainstay, especially around the holidays. Find them at Cracker Barrel in packs of 12 for $5.49 or a holiday-themed tin for $15.99.

Sunkist

Courtesy of Cracker Barrel Cracker Barrel-Sunkist

Price: $7.99

In the 1980s, you couldn’t go anywhere without Sunkist Fun Fruits surrounding you. A soft, flavorful pectin candy, the natural flavoring made them a highly sought-after candy.

Find the Fruit Gems — the modern version of Fun Fruits made by a more current manufacturer — on the shelves at Cracker Barrel.
