30 Hooters Locations Are Closing in 2025 (Is Yours One?)

After filing for bankruptcy, popular sports bar and grill Hooters began rapidly closing locations from coast to coast. With 30 locations slated to shut down in 2025, fans of the iconic wings-and-beer chain could soon be searching for a new hangout.

Whether you're a die-hard regular or someone resolving to go out to eat more this year, these closures might just change your next meal out. Is your local Hooters on the chopping block?

• Tuscaloosa: 5025 Oscar Baxter Drive

Patrons were surprised to find the Oscar Baxter Hooters closed suddenly, without any prior announcement. In fact, visitors were only made aware of the closure by a sign on the door that read, "This location is now closed. Please visit us at one of our other locations."

These other locations include Pelham, Prattville, and Trussville. Whether they will remain open in the future is currently unknown.

• Orlando: 5300 Kirkman Road
• Kissimmee: 1201 W. Osceola Pkwy.
• Melbourne: 877 S. Babcock St.
• Jacksonville: 4521 Southside Blvd.
• Tallahassee: 2000 N. Monroe St.

Even though the state was at the heart of the chain's founding in 1983, it wasn't safe from closures. Many of these closures happened in Central Florida, specifically Sanford, Orlando, Kissimmee, and Melbourne.

A recent decline in tourism and foot traffic could've led to the closure of these Hooters locations, even before the company's bankruptcy.

• Atlanta: 209 Peachtree Road NE
• Douglasville: 6855 Douglas Blvd.
• Gwinnett: 3500 Gwinnett Place Drive NW
• Valdosta: 1854 Club House Drive

Georgia had four corporate Hooters locations, which were closed to fulfill their plan of becoming a franchise-only chain. The Peachtree Road location, which was open for 22 years, guided patrons to nearby locations at Cobb Parkway and Tara Boulevard.

• Lafayette: 4620 Lincoln Ave.
• Indianapolis: 7551 US 31
• Evansville: 2327 Sagamore Pkwy. S.

When asked about the three latest closures in Indiana, a Hooters spokesperson said, "After careful consideration of what is needed to position our company for the future best, Hooters made the difficult decision to close certain company-owned locations in Indiana, effective June 4, 2025." 

Fortunately, several Indiana spots will remain open, including the Indianapolis location on 25 West Georgia St.

• Rockford: 6904 Argus Drive

After 24 years of operation, Hooters abruptly closed its Argus Drive location, surprising regulars. While 15 locations remain in Illinois, they could face similar sudden closures.

• Newport: 7200 Houston Road

Newport, Kentucky, has a population of 13,792 residents and boasts over 213 restaurants. One of these, being Hooters, has closed, directing its regular customers to locations in Florence, Springdale, and Mason.

• Flint: 3415 Miller Road
• Taylor: 21250 Eureka Road

Michigan experienced multiple Hooters closures this year, with locations in Flint and Taylor shutting down one after another. Currently, only one location remains open in Saginaw, located at 5528 Bay Road.

• St. Louis: 100 N. 7th St.

This location was one of three listed as "remodeled" by Hooters in 2014, but now, 11 years later, it has unfortunately closed. Despite being a popular spot for hosting game nights and after-game gatherings, there has been no announcement of its reopening.

• Charlotte: 9807 South Blvd.

On June 4, a single corporate Hooters in South Carolina closed, along with 29 other locations nationwide. However, despite losing this prime location, remaining NC stores, such as the one in Wilmington, are expected to experience growth due to increased foot traffic.

• Columbia: 5195 Ferdinanda Road
• Rock Hill: 1423 Riverchase Blvd.

Even with a positive projected business outlook for South Carolina in 2025, some companies are feeling pressure to reboot and restructure to keep up with the demands of a struggling economy. Hooters has done the same for many of its locations, although the two in Columbia and Rock Hill have closed permanently.

• Murfreesboro: 730 NW. Broad St.
• Memphis: 250 Peabody Place
• Nashville: 217 Largo Drive

Graceland, Dollywood, and country music aren't the only things Tennessee is famous for. The state is also known for its BBQ, chicken wings, and Southern hospitality. Hooters used to be a one-stop shop for all these, but many locations have since closed due to financial losses.

• Houston: 120 FM 1960 W.
• San Marcos: 310 S. I-35 S. Frontage Road, Suite 201

Unfortunately, if you plan to make a trip to Houston anytime soon and Hooters was on your list, you might be in for a bit of a letdown. Disappointingly, heavy foot traffic and its proximity to major shopping hubs weren't enough to keep this popular Hooters location open.

In March 2025, HOA restaurant group, the parent company of Hooters, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The original bankruptcy plan outlined how 100 of their corporate-owned restaurants would be sold to existing franchisees to rebrand from a corporate–franchise model to an all-franchise model.

According to Neil Kiefer, the CEO of the Hooters franchise group, private equity firms with no experience or history in the Hooters brand are operating these previously owned locations, resulting in an inconsistent customer experience across the board. The closures were also attributed to underperforming stores and reduced consumer spending.

Additional Hooters locations are set to close as the company plans to eliminate all corporate-owned stores. However, there hasn't been any announcement about future locations or when they will close. If it's anything like their past closures, these locations will shut without warning, leaving customers to find out the hard way.

However, despite the sudden closures, its owners remain committed to their patrons and plan to return to "the core principles that initially drove its success, including some of its original recipes and original Hooters Girls uniforms."

Hooters, one of America's favorite spots for great sports, good food, and entertainment, is here to stay. Although some closures may still occur, the company remains committed to its customers.
