Kohl's Is Closing These 27 Stores in 2025 (Is Yours One?)

Consumers aren't surprised lately that department stores are failing in today's economy, and Kohl's is next up on the chopping block. The company has tried everything from rearranging store layouts to musical chairs with their CEOs, but that hasn't translated to increased sales.

Kohl's recently announced that 27 underperforming stores will close by April, and the company will eliminate about 10% of the workforce in its headquarters. See which stores are saying goodbye first, and find out if you'll have to find a new place to save money shopping.

• 21000 Town Center Ave., Spanish Fort

Alabama will still have 13 other Kohl's locations in the state. Employees in the closing location have been offered competitive severance packages or the opportunity to apply internally for other jobs.

• 13909 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock

Arkansas will still have seven Kohl's locations in the state, three of which are around Little Rock.

• 134 N. El Camino Real, Encinitas
• 43782 Christy St., Fremont
• 350 Showers Drive, Mountain View
• 1116 1st St., Napa
• 4525 Rosewood Drive, Pleasanton
• 1896 Arden Way, Point West (Sacramento)
• 5010 Northgate Drive, San Rafael
• 205 Madonna Road, San Luis Obispo
• 8739 S. Sepulveda Blvd., Westchester

The Golden State is losing 10 Kohl's retail stores — the most of any state. There will still be 106 locations left in California, so shoppers won't have trouble finding places to browse the department store chain in person.

• 6584 S. Parker Road, Arapahoe Crossing (Aurora)

There will still be two Kohl's stores in Aurora and a total of 22 throughout the entire state of Colorado.

• 2050 W. Liddell Road, Duluth

There is only one location closing in Georgia, leaving 32 others remaining in the northern part of the state.

• 400 N. Milwaukee St., Boise

There is one Kohl's location shutting down in Idaho. However, the state will still have five left for shoppers to enjoy.

• 3000 Spring Hill Ring Road, Spring Hill (West Dundee)

Illinois will be down to 64 Kohl's stores in the state by April after these two locations shut their doors for the last time.

• 501 Technology Center Drive, Stoughton

The Bay State currently has 24 Kohl's locations, but by April, it will be down to 23. The store in Stoughton has been slated to close as part of the company's downsizing efforts.

• 72 Princeton Hightstown Road, East Windsor

New Jersey will be down to 37 stores by April, but there will still be plenty of Kohl's locations nearby for most residents of the state.

• 4150 Hunt Road, Blue Ash
• 100 Cincinnati Mills Drive, Forest Park (Cincinnati)

Ohio is losing two Kohl's locations but will still have 58 stores available for shoppers to enjoy.

• 10010 N.E. Halsey St., Portland Gateway

Oregon will be down to 10 stores once the Portland location closes. However, there will still be plenty of Kohl's stores nearby for shoppers to take advantage of.

• 351 W Schuylkill Road, Pottstown

The Keystone State is only losing one Kohl's location. This will leave 50 throughout the rest of Pennsylvania for shoppers.

• 18224 Preston Road, North Dallas

Dallas is losing one of its two Kohl's stores, with 88 remaining locations throughout the Lone Star State.

• 13319 S. 3600 W. Ste 13LOT, Riverton

There will still be several Kohl's locations near the Riverton store slated to close. Eleven stores will remain in Utah after this one shuts down in April.

• 2100 Centreville Road, Herndon
• 100 Gristmill Plaza., Williamsburg

According to the Google business listing, the Herndon location is already permanently closed. Luckily, Virginia is home to 30 other locations.

Kohl's has suffered 11 consecutive fiscal quarters of sales declines, and their share price plummeted over 50% in 2024. The major retail brand operates about 1,150 stores nationwide, so the total cuts represent less than 3% of their retail locations.

Kohl's isn't the only company slated for shutdowns. Department store rival Macy's also revealed it will be closing 66 stores early this year. So get ready to grab your favorite top rewards credit cards and hit some store closure sales.
