The 11-year program, "the 50 State Quarter program," ran from 1999 to 2008, during which each state was given a specific quarter design. Most U.S. state quarters retain their original value of $0.25. Some exceptions, however, like errors, misprints, and those in pristine condition, could leave an individual state quarter valued at over $500. Some may even be worth thousands of dollars.

Before you cash in your coin jar at the bank, check to see if you have any of these state quarters hiding in your wallet or around the house. They might just help you earn extra income.

This particular quarter was the ninth state quarter that had been released due to New Hampshire being the ninth to enter the statehood. One MS64 version sold for a record $2,128 last year.
