Since the McDonald's Happy Meal was first launched in 1979, there have been countless toy promotions that were all the rage at the time of their release. Though Happy Meals are still wildly popular today and the toys they include are still fun to collect, most Happy Meal toys are worth next to nothing (or actually nothing). However, a select few, due to scarcity, nostalgia, or a mix of both, could be your ticket to make extra money online.

Keep an eye out for these 11 McDonald's toys and sets that have sold for serious cash on online marketplaces like eBay and Etsy.

Editor's note: All estimated market values come from eBay, unless otherwise stated.

1985 Transformers

Estimated market value: $80

Transformers were huge in the '80s, and McDonald's capitalized on the craze by releasing a line of Happy Meal toys with miniature versions of fan favorites like Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, and Brawn. Even with signs of wear and without its original package, a Cliffjumper toy recently sold on eBay for $80.

Happy Meal Transformers sealed in their original plastic bags could sell for much more, with one listing currently attracting plenty of attention on eBay with a $140 starting price.

1982 'Dukes of Hazzard' cars

Estimated market value: $200

In the early '80s, McDonald's released a line of Happy Meal toys inspired by the "Dukes of Hazzard" TV show. The most valuable of the cars, and perhaps the most controversial, is a replica of the "General Lee" Dodge Charger from the show.

One General Lee car recently sold on eBay for $200. Daisy Duke's Jeep and Roscoe's Police Car are also valuable.

LEGO Bionicle set

Estimated market value: $268

In 2001, McDonald's released a series of toys inspired by LEGO Bionicle figures. If you have one of these original action figures, the going rate on the resale market is about $25 to $40 depending on if it's sealed or not. A set of six, all in their original packages, recently sold on eBay for nearly $268.

McNugget Buddies

Estimated market value: $100

When McDonald's wasn't partnering with pop culture giants, they used their own products as inspiration for Happy Meal toys. McNugget Buddies appeared in the late '80s and were like mini, McNugget-shaped Mr. Potato Heads with detachable clothes, hats, and accessories.

One McNuggets Buddy isn't worth much on its own, but sets with all their accessories or in their original bags have sold for $100 and beyond. A set of 12 recently sold on eBay for $100.

BTS TinyTAN sets

Estimated market value: $100

In 2025, McDonald's released a series of figures based on the seven members of K-pop powerhouse BTS. Each figure came with a card about the member and a small box. An incomplete set is not worth much, but sets with all seven members and original packaging regularly sell for $100 and beyond.

There were actually two sets released in 2025: one in purple boxes and another "Encore" in red, and sets with all 14 figures are worth even more.

McDonald's Changeables sets

Estimated market value: $60

In the '80s, likely inspired by the success of "Transformers," McDonald's released a line of Changeables toys. Changeables are plastic figures shaped like classic McDonald's menu items, like cheeseburgers, fries, and hot cakes, that could be transformed into other objects.

The products aren't worth much on their own, but a set of six sealed Changeables recently sold on eBay for $60.

'Super Mario Bros. 3' promo toys

Estimated market value: $50

Alone or unsealed, figurines that McDonald's released in 1990 to promote the release of "Super Mario Bros. 3" are not worth much more than $5.

However, one set that included characters Mario, Luigi, Little Goomba, and Koopa Paratroopa, all sealed in original packages, recently sold for $50.

1999 'Inspector Gadget' promo

Estimated market value: $40

In 1999, to promote an upcoming "Inspector Gadget" movie, McDonald's released a toy version of the beloved detective, but it released him in parts. Customers could collect all eight parts to build their own Inspector.

Several sets that include all eight parts in their original packages have recently sold on eBay. They are worth about $40 to $45.

Hot Wheels limited-edition hauler

Estimated market value: $50

To commemorate a long-running collaboration between McDonald's and Hot Wheels maker Mattel in the mid-'90s, the fast-food giant released a limited number of Happy Meal hauler trucks.

The toys are a hot find for collectors, and trucks in original packages regularly sell for around $50 on sites like eBay.

Snoopy 50th anniversary sets

Estimated market value: $48

McDonald's released a series of Snoopy toys in different outfits (chef, pilot, etc.) to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the "Peanuts" comic strip in 2000. Like many of the toys on this list, only sets or toys in their original bags are valuable.

A set of 12 Snoopy toys in good condition, but not sealed, recently sold for $48.

1991 McDonaldland character set

Estimated market value: $42

McDonaldland characters, including Ronald McDonald, Grimace, Hamburglar, and Birdie, on bikes, a promo released in 1991, tend to be popular with collectors. The toys are valuable if kept in their original bags, and one sealed set recently sold on eBay for $42.

Used versions might be worth about $10.

Bottom line

Most McDonald's toys, no matter how popular they were when they were released, are not worth much. However, checking old toy boxes and local garage sales for a few rarities or classic toys still in original packages could be a relatively simple way to put extra cash in your pocket.

Check common resale sites like eBay or Etsy to get a better idea of value for any toys you think may be worth something, and keep in mind that original packaging and condition make a huge difference.
