The Beatles - The White Album
Estimated market value: $800
Perhaps the most famous group in the history of modern music, it's no surprise that records from The Beatles could be quite valuable, but "The White Album" takes the cake.
These records are particularly valuable if you have one of the originals pressed in the U.K., which included small, printed numbers on the cover. One with number 0461427 is currently listed for nearly $800 on eBay.
Ringo Starr himself had the number 0000001 and sold it for nearly $800,000 in 2015.
The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico
Estimated market value: $900
The famed album cover for "The Velvet Underground & Nico," featuring Andy Warhol pop art of a banana sticker, is known far and wide, and collectors are willing to pay big bucks for rare pressings of the album inside. For example, an original first stereo pressing of the 1967 album is listed for $900 on eBay.
Sex Pistols - God Save The Queen
Estimated market value: $630
According to legend, most copies of the band's 1977 record for their single "God Save The Queen" were destroyed after their label rethought their connection to the famous punk group. Only a few of the original pressings survived, and those are worth thousands.
Collector's edition versions of the original 7-inch are rare as well, but not quite as elusive. It's sometimes possible to nab one of these on a site like eBay for around $630.

Prince - The Black Album
Estimated market value: $660
Prince's "Black Album" was originally slated for release in the late 1980s. That was until the enigmatic music legend decided he no longer approved, and most pressed versions of the record were destroyed. A few survived, and one of those sold for more than $40,000 in 2018, after the icon's death.
There was also a limited release of some vinyls in 1994, and though there were hundreds more of these versions, they are still worth serious cash today. Expect starting prices on eBay to be over $600.
The Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
Estimated market value: $300
A version of The Rolling Stones' 1971 "Sticky Fingers" record with its original cover could net you several hundred dollars from the right collector, and it has sold for thousands in the past. The original art was by Andy Warhol and featured a man in jeans with a real, working zipper on the album cover.
Those zippers eventually disappeared in later pressings, hence the value in the originals. One is currently listed on eBay for $300.
The White Stripes - Lafayette Blues
Estimated market value: $570
The White Stripes' second 7" single "Lafayette Blues" was released in a limited-edition white vinyl back in 1998. With only 1,000 copies released, demand is high for fans and collectors alike. One in near mint condition with all the original inserts is attracting plenty of attention with a $570 asking price on eBay.
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Estimated market value: $375
Jazz legend Miles Davis struck gold with "Kind of Blue," one of the best-selling records of the 1950s and one of the most collected from the era to this day. First press copies of the vinyl could be worth decent money, and rare mistakes, like a track list error, make some of these vinyls even more valuable.
These rarities are regularly listed for a few hundred dollars on eBay and have been known to sell for more than a thousand.
David Bowie - Diamond Dogs
Estimated market value: $250
Even if you don't have the more valuable uncensored cover, an original version of Bowie's 1974 album on vinyl could be worth a few hundred dollars to collectors.
The uncensored version, of which only a few reportedly exist, has slightly different cover art, and these rare copies have sold for more than $3,000.
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
Estimated market value: $760
While "Rumours," the album that gave the world classics like "The Chain," may be one of the most popular albums of all time, vinyls are not worth the big bucks unless they have a particular vintage edge.
For example, one original, factory-sealed, promotional press of the record is attracting plenty of attention with a starting asking price of over $700 on eBay.

The Doors debut
Estimated market value: $400
For fans and/or vinyl enthusiasts, getting their hands on the first U.S. press of The Doors' self-titled 1967 album may be (and often is) worth a few hundred dollars. Sealed versions have reportedly sold at auction for upwards of $1,500, but even a used record in decent condition could be worth a serious payday.
Bottom line
What makes most of these vinyls valuable is not just that they are widely considered excellent albums, but that there is something unique about them, like an early or limited release, a printing error, or in the case of Prince and the Sex Pistols, a wild story attached.
That doesn't mean selling old vinyls can't be a simple way to eliminate some money stress. You very well may have a rarity worth thousands to a collector (or super fan). It never hurts to check.
