Today, many people dream of working remotely. However, there is a lingering perception that you may need to accept a lower salary to work from home. To help you explore your options, we've round up a list of careers that show that's not always the case.

Here are 10 work-from-home jobs that allow you to earn six figures starting at $110,000.

Median annual salary: $112,590

Data scientists pore over data to tease out key insights. For example, they may gather data from a survey or by scraping the internet. They then develop algorithms and models to analyze data, helping their organizations craft effective business strategies.

A bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics or computer science is often required for this role. As with many tech jobs, data scientists can work from almost anywhere, including home.

Medical and health services manager

Median annual salary: $117,960

Medical and health services managers are responsible for coordinating medical and health services. The position is known as a health care "executive" or "administrator."

These professionals may be in charge of a facility or a department within it. They may also manage a medical practice for several physicians. It's not uncommon to do all this managing through online tools and therefore work from home.

A bachelor's degree is typically considered to be the minimum requirement for entering this career field, although some companies are OK with an associate degree, while others prefer a master's degree.

Information security analyst

Information security analysts help protect a company's computer networks and systems from hackers and other bad actors. In addition to implementing preventative and protective measures, they investigate breaches after they occur.

These professionals typically have a bachelor's degree in computer and information technology or a related field. Earning a professional certification can boost job prospects. This is a tech job that often can be performed remotely.

Actuary

Actuaries help companies and other organizations manage financial risk and uncertainty. Using math, financial theory, and other tools, the actuary tries to gauge the risk of certain events occurring. This helps companies to implement policies and strategies to mitigate such risks.

This career path usually includes earning a bachelor's degree in mathematics, actuarial science or business. Many actuaries work for insurance companies. Because the job requires a lot of number crunching, it can often be done from home.

Software developer

In most cases, you will need at least a bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or another field. Some employers may require you to earn a master's degree. Many human resources managers work in an office, but the job can also be done from home.

Computer and information research scientist

Computer and information research scientists use technology to solve problems for businesses and other organizations. These professionals often work with scientists, engineers, and others to tackle high-tech challenges.

Many organizations prefer this type of professional to have a master's degree in a field such as computer science, although the federal government hires computer and information research scientists with only a bachelor's degree. The field can easily accommodate remote or hybrid work.

Computer hardware engineer
