The tech business is booming. But that doesn't mean you must settle for a low-paying job in the industry, especially if you want to build wealth.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, computer and information technology employment is expected to grow significantly faster than average for all jobs. This growth is driven by increased demand for tech professionals and the need to replace retiring workers.

The strong outlook highlights the expanding opportunities in tech-related careers over the next decade.

In fact, tons of jobs pay $90,000 or more. Here are seven.

Salary: $130,160

Job outlook: 17% (Much faster than average)

Many of us enjoyed the show "Devs," but the current reality is a bit different — and I promise I won't spoil anything.

Software developers oversee the entire software creation process, starting with understanding how customers will use it to identify core functionalities and requirements like security. However, you must know languages like Python, Java, or C++.

Data scientist

Job outlook: 36% (Much faster than average)

Data. It's not just for nerds … well, it is for nerds, but they are very well-paid nerds.

Data scientists gather and clean raw data from sources like surveys or web scraping, making it readable for analysis. They develop algorithms and machine learning models to classify data, make predictions, and ensure accuracy with updates.

Using data visualization tools, they present findings through charts and graphics, helping audiences make informed decisions. Some specialize in system development, research, or enhancing business strategies in marketing, sales, and user engagement.

Cloud architect

Salary: $129,840

Job outlook: 13% (Much faster than average)

You don't need to look to the sky to see where cloud computing is. (Spoiler alert: We're talking about databases here.)

Computer network architects design and implement data communication networks, such as local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and intranets. These systems can range from small office connections to large cloud infrastructures supporting multiple users.

Borrow up to $50k to finally crush your debt

If you have thousands in debt and you’re barely making it paycheck to paycheck, you know how suffocating it is. Debt is always on your mind. It controls your life. And even if you make on-time payments, they’re so expensive that you have nothing left over.

A personal loan could help you get out of this situation and lift your monthly debt burden significantly. You could finally pay off all of your debt at once, get rid of the sky-high interest rates, and slash your debt load to one manageable monthly payment.

AmONE is a marketplace where you can find some of the best personal loans available. They match you with loans up to $50,000 with rates as low as 2.49%. That’s better than most credit cards. And easier than draining your bank account every month. Seeing what you qualify for doesn’t affect your credit score, and if you’re approved, you could get money the next day.

Salary: $120,360

Job outlook: 33% (Much faster than average)

Cybersecurity analysts, also known as information security analysts, are the people who keep our computers safe.

Information security analysts design and implement security measures to protect an organization's computer systems and networks. They monitor for security breaches, investigate incidents, and maintain protective software like firewalls and encryption tools. They identify system vulnerabilities, stay updated on IT security trends, and develop disaster recovery plans to ensure continuity during emergencies.

Analysts also prepare reports on attempted breaches, establish security best practices, recommend enhancements, and research emerging technologies to strengthen organizational security.

Computer and information systems managers

Salary: $169,510

Job outlook: 17% (Much faster than average)

Computer and information systems managers are often called IT managers — they plan and direct computer-related stuff within an organization.

Beyond that, they analyze IT needs, recommend upgrades, and oversee the installation and maintenance of hardware and software. They ensure security measures are in place and assess the costs and benefits of new projects. These managers guide IT staff, negotiate with vendors, and stay current on technology trends. Their roles may vary depending on the organization's size, and titles like CIO or CTO may apply. They collaborate with executives to align IT strategies with business goals and drive technological improvements.

Computer and information research scientists

Salary: $145,080

Job outlook: 26% (Much faster than average)

This is true nerd-boss.

Computer and information research scientists explore new and existing technology to solve complex problems in business, science, and medicine. They develop theories, models, and tools — including new computing languages and software systems. Their work involves testing software, analyzing results, and improving algorithms for efficiency.

They also design computer architecture to enhance hardware, like networking technology and computing speeds. Specialties include programming, where new languages are created. These scientists often collaborate with engineers on multidisciplinary projects to advance technology.

Machine learning

Salary: $145,080

Job outlook: 26% (Much faster than average)

This is very related to being a data nerd. You'll need to develop and apply techniques to transform raw data into actionable insights using data-oriented programming and visualization tools.

You'll also use data mining, modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to analyze large datasets and report results.

This excludes statisticians, cartographers, photogrammetrists, and health information technologists.

Bottom line

The tech industry is thriving, offering lucrative opportunities for those aiming to build wealth or earn extra income.

The BLS projects that computer and information technology employment will grow much faster than the average over the next decade.

This growth stems from the rising demand for tech professionals and the need to replace retiring workers. The outlook is promising, underscored by expanding career opportunities and strong earning potential in tech-related fields.
