Furbys hit the scene in 1998, and the wide-eyed, talking toy became a must-have item for children across the U.S. Furbys in good condition have sold for hundreds of dollars.

An original 1998 model still in the box is currently listed for $300 on eBay, and these collectors' items have been known to go for double that.

You could turn your whole life around if you happen to have a first edition of Book 1 in the Harry Potter series, "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone," particularly the version that was published in England. The original book has several identifiers, including the number line 10987654321, and a version is currently listed on a rare books site for a whopping $225,000.

You could nab a few thousand for an original copy of the U.S. version of the book as well.

Several Pokémon cards and collections could net you some serious cash, but a holographic Charizard from the '90s is a particular money-maker. One Charizard from 1999 with a perfect 10 score from professional card grader, PSA, is listed on eBay for nearly $40,000.

There's no telling if someone will actually shell out that much for the card, but rare Pokémon cards in good condition have been known to sell for thousands.

While most Beanie Babies are not worth much (despite what collectors were told in the 90s), there are a select few that could net you a serious profit, like a commemorative Princess Diana Beanie Baby released in 1997.
