Make Money Side Hustles

Best Survey Sites for Amazon Gift Cards [2025]: Are They Legit?

Survey Junkie and Inbox Dollars are two well-known sites that offer opportunities to earn gift cards, but some other sites can also help you earn more by taking surveys.

Updated May 23, 2025
Fact checked

Survey sites have become a popular side hustle since all you need to make money is your phone and an opinion. Many sites reward you with Amazon gift cards (among other stores) for sharing your views. I generally request cash when I'm ready to cash out, but taking a survey for Amazon gift cards is often the next best thing, especially since you frequently receive gift cards faster than a bank deposit.

My favorite survey sites are Survey Junkie and InboxDollars since their earnings, while not massive, are comparable with each other, and I know they are legitimate companies that pay out consistently. But they have drawbacks, like people being disqualified mid-survey or it taking several days to receive your payout. Another site, Branded Surveys, is new to me, but I like that it offers a loyalty program to help you earn more points.

None of these survey sites will replace a full-time income, but they can be a great way to make extra money without too much work.

Survey Junkie

Great for an easy-to-use interface

SurveyJunkie
Earn Money Online by Taking Surveys
Get your share of $55,000 paid out daily to Survey Junkie users.

Site details

  • Platform: Web browser and Android or iPhone app
  • Other ways to earn: product testing, focus groups, and Surf to Earn with Pulse browser extension

If you are only interested in taking surveys and don't want a lot of clutter, check out Survey Junkie. It offers a variety of surveys and occasionally provides focus groups and product testing to select survey takers. It also offers Surf to Earn, a browser extension that can help you qualify for higher-paying surveys.

Like most survey sites, you'll need to fill out your demographic information when you first sign up to help the site match you with surveys. Once you've built your profile, you'll see the available surveys on your dashboard and an estimate of how long each survey will take. I find that Survey Junkie generally has surveys worth $0.15 to $0.40 for each, but it does occasionally offer higher paid surveys worth $1 or more.

You must earn at least 500 points (or $5) before you can cash out. You can request a PayPal or bank deposit, which can take up to five days, or receive an Amazon (or other store) gift card almost instantly.

Pros
  • Survey Junkie has a wide variety of survey options.
  • You only need to earn $5 (500 points) to cash out.
  • You can cash out multiple ways, including (almost) instantly via Amazon gift card.
Cons
  • You might not qualify for some surveys, limiting your earning potential.
  • Some surveys are only worth $0.15 or $0.20.
  • Survey Junkie may disqualify you for a survey while you're in the middle of it.

InboxDollars

Great for earning money besides surveys

Inbox Dollars
Get Paid Up to $225 a Month Doing Simple Tasks
Get paid to take surveys, play games, read emails ... even to go grocery shopping.
Site details
  • Platform: Web browser and Android or iPhone app
  • Other ways to earn: playing games, responding to offers, scanning receipts, online shopping, and referring friends

InboxDollars is one of my favorite sites for earning money online. It offers multiple survey options, but you can also earn money by playing games, shopping online, and scanning receipts, among other activities. InboxDollars generally pays between $0.20 and $2.50 for various surveys, which is reasonable compared to other survey platforms.

When you're ready to cash out, you can request a PayPal deposit or a gift card from Amazon, Target, Walmart, or many other stores. Most gift cards require a minimum of $15 to cash out, but some require $25. After your first withdrawal, the minimum drops to $10. InboxDollars says it can take up to 10 days for you to receive your gift card after you redeem your cash.

Pros
  • InboxDollars has a lot of money-making options.
  • Some surveys pay as much as $2.50 if you qualify.
  • It offers a $5 sign-up bonus.
Cons
  • InboxDollars requires a minimum of $15 to cash out your first gift card.
  • Giftcards can take up to 10 days to receive after redemption.
  • Once you have selected a payment option, you cannot change your mind or get a refund.

Freecash

Great for limited bonuses

Freecash
Earn Free Cash Within Minutes — Up To $1,000
Get rewarded to download games, take surveys, or even join Netflix with 1K+ offers to choose from.
Site details
  • Platform: Web browser and Android App. iOS users can access the site from a web browser.
  • Other ways to earn: downloading and playing games, downloading apps, brand promotions, subscribing to services, and watching ads

Freecash offers paid surveys like the other sites, but you earn money primarily by downloading and playing games. Because it's so focused on games, Freecash doesn't have as many survey options as InboxDollars or Survey Junkie. However, it pays relatively well for the surveys it does offer. My survey options range from about $0.37 to $1, but Freecash also occasionally offers special perks like doubling the payout on one survey for a short time.

The biggest drawback to Freecash is that it places some users in Lite Mode, which limits the surveys and games you have access to and how much you can earn.

Users must earn at least $5 before cashing out. You'll maximize your earnings by selecting a gift card. Although Freecash offers bank transfer or PayPal, it charges a 5% processing fee for both. You won't have to pay a fee if you select a gift card to Amazon or another store.

Pros
  • Freecash only requires a $5 minimum to cash out.
  • Gift card redemption only takes about 30 minutes.
  • It has special perks that can help increase your earnings.
Cons
  • Users must earn $20 before getting out of Lite Mode.
  • Freecash's survey options are limited compared to other sites.
  • PayPal and bank transfers have a 5% processing fee.

Prime Opinion

Great for turning surveys into a competition

Prime Opinion
Earn Unlimited Cash and Rewards by Answering Questions Online
There is no limit to how much you can earn. Cash out via PayPal or gift cards.
Site details
  • Platform: Web browser and Android or iPhone app
  • Other ways to earn: referring friends, featured offers, survey streaks, and leaderboard competitions.

Prime Opinion is new to me. After signing up and answering some demographic questions, it has an easy-to-use interface and a lot of survey options. It also offers points for completing surveys daily and maintaining your streak. After you have completed 10 surveys, you're eligible to compete on the leaderboard, which earns you more points.

Prime Opinion says it pays more than other sites. Some of its surveys are worth a lot of points, which could translate to $2 or $3 for one survey. However, most surveys are worth less than $1 (and you may not qualify for them), or they request personal information that I wasn't comfortable sharing.

You need a minimum of $5 to cash out of Prime Opinion, and you can select PayPal, direct deposit, or gift cards, including Amazon.

Pros
  • Prime Opinion has a lot of survey options, some worth $1 or more.
  • It has multiple payout options, including Amazon gift cards.
  • It offers new users a $1 (100 points) welcome bonus.
Cons
  • Some surveys require a significant amount of time for relatively low rewards.
  • You have to log in frequently to earn the most points.
  • Some surveys request personal information to participate.

Branded Surveys

Great for bonus points

Branded Surveys
Get Paid For Sharing Your Opinion on Fortune 500 Companies
Top companies are willing to pay top dollar for you feedback — over $59M paid out to date.
Site details
  • Platform: Web browser, Android, or iPhone app
  • Other ways to earn: Branded Elite bonus points program and special offers

Branded Surveys is another new-to-me survey site. It didn't have as many survey options available as some of the other platforms. However, its Branded Elite program helps users earn bonus points and advance to different badge levels. As you complete more surveys, you'll earn bonus points based on the total points you earn each week. Branded Surveys pays a little lower than some other platforms. For the three surveys I received, I earned between $0.28 and $0.76 for surveys lasting between 12 and 14 minutes.

Payouts are available as PayPal, bank transfers, or gift cards. You can even donate your earnings to charity. You'll need to earn at least $5 to cash out. I don't like that redemptions take one-three business days, even if you select a gift card.

Pros
  • You only need to earn $5 to cash out.
  • The Branded Elite program helps increase your earnings.
  • You can donate winnings to charity or collect via PayPal, gift card, or bank transfer.
Cons
  • You need to visit frequently to maximize your earnings.
  • It takes between one and three days to receive your gift card.
  • Some surveys ask for your personal information.

How to avoid scam survey sites

There are a lot of scams on the internet, and survey sites are no exception. Pay attention to red flags like:

Be wary of large payout promises: For the most part, survey sites only pay a few cents up to a few dollars per survey. If you see a survey advertising a huge payout, it's probably too good to be true. Similarly, if a site asks you to download attachments, share personal information like your Social Security Number, or pay to participate, it is likely a scam.

Avoid signing up through Craigslist or other sites: Some scam sites advertise on Craigslist or other sites, asking for your email address. You'll likely get spam email, phishing schemes, or even malware if you enter your email address.

Read reviews: Before you sign up with a site, read customer reviews on the app stores or through sites like Trustpilot and the Better Business Bureau. While there will likely be a few negative reviews for any site, pay attention to frequent reports of never receiving payouts or issues with compromised personal information.

Similarly, if you see nothing but 5-star reviews or unbelievable testimonials, steer clear. Real survey sites don't try so hard to get people to take surveys.

FAQs

How much money can I realistically make from Amazon gift card surveys?

The amount of money you can make varies depending on several factors like how much time you spend taking surveys, how much the surveys pay, and the platform you use. Most survey sites pay a few cents up to a couple of dollars per survey, so setting realistic expectations for earning potential is important.

Why do some surveys disqualify me partway through?

Survey sites may disqualify you partway through for several reasons. The most likely reason is that you were not a good fit for the survey based on your demographics. Some surveys may also disqualify you if they reach a certain number of responses. Additionally, speeding through the questions or giving inconsistent answers will skew the data, and you may be disqualified.

How long does it take to receive Amazon gift cards after redemption?

The time it takes to receive your Amazon gift cards depends on the survey site you use. Some sites offer near-instant payout for gift cards, with the redemption email received within a few minutes of submitting. However, other sites, like InboxDollars and Branded Surveys, can take several days to send your Amazon gift card.

Bottom line

Taking surveys online won't replace a full-time income, but these sites can be a good way to earn extra money. Before you sign up, read the fine print to understand how much you can earn and how much you need to cash out. Pay attention to customer reviews and look for any red flags that might indicate the site is a scam.
