Not only is remote work now open to a much broader range of roles, but you don't even need prior experience for a lot of them. The need to fill some open positions is so great that many businesses will offer them as entry-level with pay befitting an experienced professional.

It's quite common today for businesses to use custom software for internal purposes. The computer programmers who write and maintain this code are known as application developers.

Prior experience for this role isn't necessary, as long as you have code samples proving you can do the job.

Management analyst

Management analysts help businesses solve problems and become more efficient. While the title of management analyst may sound like a senior position, consulting firms often have entry-level positions available where you can learn on the job.

The demand for this role is so high that in many cases, you only need the proper certifications.

Entry-level work used to mean starting at the bottom, both in terms of the company hierarchy and the pay scale. However, as companies continue to adopt remote work, entry-level jobs that pay better than living paycheck to paycheck are becoming increasingly common.

In fact, a 2025 Robert Half survey of professional job postings found that 12% were for fully remote positions, and 24% were for hybrid roles that included some remote work. So, in total 36%, or more than one out of every three job postings, allow for at least some remote work.
