CorningWare was born out of a lab accident, and then continued to be the focus of unexpected surprises even to this day. Many people have discovered that antique and vintage CorningWare could be worth quite a lot of money on the resale market, and experts in identifying valuable pieces make cash on the side from home by scouring estate sales and local garage and yard sales for collectibles to flip.

Spice of Life
Estimated market value: $150 to $300
The Spice of Life is the second most common CorningWare pattern, but it remains steadfastly popular. The most valuable vintage pieces have the model name inscribed below the pattern in French and have a flame logo on the bottom with a "Made in the USA" label. Particularly rare pieces, such as the 4-quart casserole dish, sometimes sell for a couple of thousand dollars at auction.
However, most sets sell in the low hundreds on eBay. Overly optimistic sellers often price pieces for tens of thousands, but that isn't what people are actually paying.
Detachable handles
Estimated market value: $60
Antiques appraiser Dr. Lori Verderame says to never pass up CorningWare's detachable handles. Individually, they aren't too expensive, but they consistently sell for about $60 and are very useful for folks who are actually using their CorningWare. They could also increase the value of sets, bumping up the resale value.
Starburst
Estimated market value: $90 to $200
The most common starburst pattern piece from CorningWare is the stovetop percolator coffee pot, and it usually maintains a resale value of about $90. Other pieces, such as casserole dishes, are more difficult to find and could be valued higher, especially if there are few available.

Country Festival (also called Friendship Bird)
Estimated market value: $100 to $200
The Country Festival pattern features two blue birds facing each other, and is reminiscent of Pennsylvania Dutch patterns found on hex signs. Sets featuring this pattern often sell for about $200, although individual pieces could sometimes sell for $100 each if they are difficult to find, such as the pantry canisters.
Mallard Ducks
Estimated market value: $350
There are a couple of different mallard duck patterns by CorningWare. Some feature a single duck, while others display three mallards taking flight. These don't feature the iconic patterns for which the cookware is known, and they are less common, meaning those who want them pay top dollar on the resale market. Even pieces without the matching fireside lid often fetch hundreds of dollars.
Teakettle
Estimated market value: $180
The wide-mouth teakettle with lid made by CorningWare is a rarer find that doesn't have the cinched neck design reminiscent of modern coffee pots. The common blue cornflower pattern on this uncommon piece is highly sought to complete sets by enthusiasts. The price is significantly reduced without the lid.
Garden Cat
Estimated market value: $150 to $200
The CorningWare Garden Cat pattern features a cat in front of a white picket fence with potted flowers and a watering can with a little heart on it. This vintage 90's pattern is less common, and pieces are often sold individually. Complete sets are even rarer and are often priced even higher.
Merry Mushroom
Estimated market value: $100 to $120
Whimsical mushrooms were introduced as a CorningWare pattern exclusively with Sears in the 1970s, but were not available for long. Individual pieces often sell for about $100. Keep an eye out for the unique dimpled Pyrex lid, which was originally paired with the mushroom pattern. Pieces sold with a standard lid have been mismatched, reducing the resale value.
Renaissance
Estimated market value: $50 to $100
A Renaissance-era city pattern was introduced by CorningWare in 1970 for a limited-edition gift line. It shows a 17th-century reproduction of Stockholm's seaport in a shade of grey. Only five items were produced with this pattern, so most pieces sell individually on the resale market rather than as a set.

Bottom line
Resale sites such as eBay have hundreds of vintage CorningWare cookware pieces listed for tens of thousands, but in reality, very few collectors purchase them at these outrageously high prices. Several hundred dollars for a rare piece in good condition is quite common, and flipping vintage cookware could put extra cash in your pocket. While raiding your grandmother's pantry for CorningWare probably won't pay off your mortgage, you could find valuable pieces at garage sales, flea markets, and estate sales.
A modern set of 18 pieces is priced around $140. However, the newer cookware is made from stoneware instead of the Pyroceram glass-ceramic material that is so highly sought on the resale market.
