Remote work has a reputation for being low-paid and difficult to source, and hearing the phrase "work-from-home" might make you think of the often crowded freelancer market.

However, with the right qualifications and a little bit of research, you can build wealth by securing a high-paying role that offers remote flexibility with full-time benefits.

Median hourly wage: $63.20

Making sure the products or services a company produces are up to scratch is a vital role. Quality assurance analysts provide feedback and help drive improvements. You could do this via product testing, listening to customer service calls, or analyzing data.

Plus, you can find remote roles in industries from finance to IT.

Software developer

Median hourly wage: $63.20

As more businesses undergo digital transformation, app and software developers are increasingly in demand. So much so that there's currently a global talent shortage, leading to many companies offering more flexible working opportunities.

Look out for roles in multiple industries or start your own software development business from home.

App or software tester

Median hourly wage: $63.20

While you might need a bachelor's degree for this type of opportunity, many roles require no previous experience. You just need to be able to test a piece of software or a mobile app fully, pushing it to the limits of its capabilities.

Your feedback should help developers tweak apps to work better for end users.

Fundraising manager

Median hourly wage: $63.88

Fundraisers are in big demand, particularly for nonprofits trying to convince donors to give more during trying financial times. With leadership experience and a relevant bachelor's degree, you could step into a remote role managing a team of fundraisers.

Aerospace engineer

Median hourly wage: $64.82

If you have a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering or a related field, check for remote opportunities. Several have opened up recently, with companies seeking subject matter experts and consultants who can work from home.

The higher your level of education and experience, the more you can expect to earn.

Median hourly wage: $67.01

As a political scientist, you'll study relationships between governments, economics, and other factors. You'll likely use this data to advise your employer or offer guidance as a freelance or self-employed consultant.

Most political scientists hold a master's degree and can find remote roles in education or political campaigning.

Computer hardware engineer

Median hourly wage: $74.53

It might seem counterintuitive that you can become a computing engineer at home, but there are remote opportunities available. You could consult on what hardware a company should purchase or advise on network architecture.

If so, you may have access to a job market that's expanding at 7% at the moment.

Public relations manager

Some of the highest-paying fields are oil and gas extraction and motion pictures.

Financial manager

Median hourly wage: $77.74

Finance and business budgeting experts could move into the world of financial management. Guide an organization's financial strategy and help employers plan for the future.

You'll likely need a bachelor's degree and some experience, but this could open up opportunities in industries ranging from food and beverage to AI development.

Computer and information systems manager

Median hourly wage: $82.31

Opportunities in this field range from network managers to IT consultants, with many high-paid remote roles available. You'll need to be passionate about IT and have a strong understanding of your niche, as well as hold a relevant bachelor's degree. With this hourly wage, you can also likely move beyond living paycheck to paycheck.
